Played in a third-person perspective, players control protagonist Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter known as a witcher, who sets out on a long journey through the Northern Kingdoms. In the game, players battle against the world's many dangers using swords and magic, while interacting with non-player characters and completing side quests and main missions to progress through the story. The game was met with critical acclaim and was a financial success, selling over 6 million copies in six weeks. Though the difference isn't as noticeable as in the last two games, the Radeon RX 480 is faster than the GTX 970 by a healthy 8% or so while coming within 1% of the R9 390 at 1920×1080.

The deltas between the cards remain static here at 2560×1440, with the GTX 970 falling just about 10% behind and the R9 380 more than 40%.
