Where are HDR monitors?
Where are HDR monitors?
I’m really waiting for a free
I’m really waiting for a free sync HDR TV, i’ve heard some whispers, but I think my patience will be tested.
You REALLY shouldn’t go into
You REALLY shouldn’t go into a room that you’ve ozoned for enough half-lives proportionate to the concentration that it’s well below dangerous levels.
Dangerous levels for ozone are quite low too. Just a few breaths in a room with thats been recently ozoned can cause scarring, pulmonary adema or worse.
Chronic exposure to low levels would likely increase your risk of cancer since O3 is an extremely powerful oxidizer.
You need to take SERIOUS precautions and follow proper safety procedures if you are sterilizing rooms with O3.
You dont just need to evacuate people, animals(including fish tanks) and plants, but you need to remove all food that is not stored in air tight containers. It will oxidize and destroy pretty much any organic material, and inorganic stuff like electronics can easily be ruined by ozone. Its not something to mess around with!
Just to add to the previous
Just to add to the previous commenters remark: although O3 has a half-life of about 30 min in water, it is often reported to have a half-life of 3 days in air. Thus, just switching it off is not enough, you need to properly ventilate after. These type of O3 generators are banned in California (and many countries like e.g. Canada) https://www.arb.ca.gov/research/indoor/ozone.htm
That said, there are already many sources of O3 in our households, like TV’s, hairdryers, laser-printers, etc.
Yeah i should have said the
Yeah i should have said the part about ventilation. Even after a few days, the room or car will smell faintly of the bleachy ozone smell.
For shock treatment of mold, bacteria, sick building syndromme, bad AC ducts etc, it can be very good but must be done following ozone or any toxic or oxidizing gas safety protocol.
Low level O3 generators labeled “air purifiers” should be banned, as theyre intened to be used in occupied spaces, which is idiotic. The shock treatment ones have some rare legitimate uses, but i doubt many people appreciate just how dangerous O3 is.
Reading up about O3, I didn’t
Reading up about O3, I didn’t know that “air purifiers” generates it. That explains the strange bleach smells and headaches in places that these are used.
Not a topic you hear often, other than from sales people who wants you to buy a product of that type.
To add;
Even food in air
To add;
Even food in air tight containers aren’t guarantied to prevent O3 from leaking in. O3 attacks all mould and mucous based organism. Plastic is a type of mould or fungus which will get damaged from O3. Many other material are plastic based like pressed laminated wood like today’s bed frames.
Really, best is to have a completely vacant home. Even then, what about wiring, outlet covers, etc.
Best to use Air Scrubbers and Negative Air units instead.

I am getting worried about
I am getting worried about Zen. If it can’t compete evenly with the processors that will be out when it releases next year (Kaby lake and Skylake-E) then its going to struggle. If it ends as slow as this article suggested no one who has bought a CPU since Haswell is going to care, more cores isn’t a good selling point consider how much IPC normally matters more.
IPC on the newer games titles
IPC on the newer games titles and DX12/Vulkan will not matter as much as it once did. Zen will do fine if it can just have Haswell/Broadwell levels of IPC, and cost much less than what Intel charges for 8 x86 SMT2(2 processor threads per core) CPU cores.
Where AMD can really do well is taking a Zen/Polaris die and putting it on an interposer with a single stack of HBM2, and give any Polaris integrated APU graphics plenty of bandwidth to really perform well. A single 4GB stack of HBM2 will allow any Zen/Polaris APU to have the guaranteed necessary integrated graphics bandwidth without OEMs having any effect on a Zen/Polaris APU’s needed bandwidth by only building laptops that use AMD APUs with a single channel to DIMM based DRAM. An APU with its own faster tier of HBM2(Single stack/4GB) on interposer memory will not be starved of bandwidth even with a single channel to DDR4 DIMM memory, as the HBM2 would still have its own interposer etched 1024 traces of dedicated pathways from the HBM2’s DRAM stacks to the APU’s CPU and GPU cores, with the regular DRAM DIMM DDR4 memory having its own channel/s to any off interposer slower secondary DIMM based DRAM.
A single stack of HBM2/1024 bit interface would offer plenty of bandwidth to provide to an Integrated Polaris GPU that could offer many more CUs than on previous generations of AMD APUs. And any off HBM2 memory transfers could be done in the background and allow the integrated GPU to only need to access the faster HBM2 while gaming, so a single channel to slower/lower bandwidth DIMM based DRAM would have no detrimental effects on the Zen/Polaris APUs performance on gaming/graphics workloads. HBM2 at 256 GB/s per stack is going offer plenty of bandwidth for an APU’s GPU and CPU cores, and that’s in addition to whatever separate bandwidth comes from a single, or dual channel to off interposer slower DDR4 DIMM RAM memory.
