According to Samsung, there have been 35 reported cases of defective Galaxy Note 7 batteries. In response, they will voluntarily replace all existing Galaxy Note 7 devices “over the coming weeks”. They have also stopped selling the devices, presumably, because they are capable of fixing the devices for existing customers, until the stock can be replaced.
This comes after reports that Galaxy Note 7 phones have been either catching fire or exploding. Some outlets are claiming that Samsung has confirmed 35 cases of fire or explosion, but, unless these outlets have more information than on the public statement, Samsung has only confirmed 35 complaints, and it's possible that other, related issues were included in that tally (like feeling excessively hot).
They did not mention a specific way for Galaxy Note 7 owners to request a replacement in their press release, but their technical support contact information is available here. I assume that they will point you in the right direction.
Samsung: We decided to start
Samsung: We decided to start selling refurbished phones, because not everyone is stupid enough to pay $800 for a phone.
(Note 7 battery problems)
Samsung: Good news. We have plenty of refurbished Note 7s. Hooray!
We were paying extra for
We were paying extra for stylish phones with non removable batteries for years and now Samsung is going to pay couple billions for the same. Who cares?
Smart phones that cost more
Smart phones that cost more than a laptop! That’s not what I call smart. But could you please see if you can review the new Samsung and LG Flip Phones. I’m still only willing to pay less than 200 for a phone, and I’d like a phone that is more dumb than smart and comes with as little bloatware as possible! My current phone(6 years old) cost 19.95 new with 100 minutes included.
I want to see this
I want to see this “explosion”. I have a feeling it’s more like chemical fart instead of something that blows your head off.
Also shouldn’t there be hardware and software safeties in place against overheating like stop charging, reduce performance, close demanding programs or even shutdown/sleep till safe temperatures are reached?
Many other devices and equipment have safeties like this in place in simple or advanced form factors.
Or is it a poorly manufactured battery? Too many questions.
Also when i decide to buy a new phone of this brand and type i expect to get a brand new one straight from factory instead of a refurbished one that were in other hand already.
I guess there is price reduction and honesty about this.
Never mind found some answers:

Most likely something wrong with the charging regulator in the battery itself when not using the original charger, but still one that should be compatible.
Wouldn’t be at all surprised
Wouldn’t be at all surprised if this ends up affecting the S7 also.
