Someone fired out a press release a little early and MSPoweruser spotted it in time to post it. We now know the new 10nm ARM based design will include the new Kryo 280 CPU, Adreno 540 GPU, and a Hexagon DSP. We do not have specific core counts or frequencies but you can't expect everything in a single leak. Also new on this chip is the Qualcomm Haven Security Platform, offering you security baked right into the device which is a good thing when running Android. The new design is touted as offering impressively reduces power usage, a full day of talk time, five days of music playback, and 7+ hours of 4K video streaming; the Qualcomm Quick Charge 4 feature will supposedly charge five hours of battery life in five minutes.
Take a look at their post and the full PR right here.
"According to the leaked press release, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 sports the Qualcomm Kryo 280 CPU (quad-core), Qualcomm Adreno 540 GPU, and Qualcomm Hexagon DSP to manage the different workloads. All of this combined together will result in a 27% increase in performance when compared to the previous generation."

Transmeta 2.0?
Transmeta 2.0?
It’s probably a Qualcomm ARM
It’s probably a Qualcomm ARM server processor running windows 10, with plenty of cores eaten up by that software translation layer (CISC to RISC) for all that win32 emulation and legacy bloat. That Inquirer article spells it out for windows 10 usage currently, “Windows 10 fails to hit a 25 per cent market share as Windows 7 has another rebound @ The Inquirer”, and windows 7 is the new XP. Looking at what the comments at the Inquirer most people seem rather confused as to if Kaby lake and Ryzen will be able to run windows 7 and 8.1 but both 7 and 8.1 will run fine on the newer x86 CPU/SOC/APU SKUs provided there is driver support from the OEMs!
It’s not going to be that Ryzen and Kaby lake will not be able to run 7/8.1 code it’s just that the OS code on the older windows OS versions will not be taking advantage of any newer Instruction set new/shiny features because M$ will not be compiling the older OS Kernel/Code to make use of the New/Shiny.
Windows 7 will run on Ryzen and Kaby lake most likely with a little work and if M$ keeps it up more will just move over to a Linux distro on their server systems as Linux will be getting that support without having to force its way on end users. The enterprise users will get that support from Redmond as the enterprise users amount to millions/billions of potential lost business if M$ keep up with its foolishness.
For that terrible Atom
For that terrible Atom powered windows 10 budget experience on even more of a budget and an even smaller screen, with no keyboard, or touchpad.
