Memory and SSD manufacturer Mushkin appears to be branching out into other markets with the launch of its Carbon KB-001 mechanical keyboard.
The Carbon KB-001 is built from CNC anodized and brushed aluminum and offers a frameless floating key design in black and gray color scheme. The keyboard uses Kailh Brown key switches and has per-key RGB LED lighting, media playback controls on the function keys, and a Windows key lock. Further, Mushkin claims its mechanical keyboard offers N-key rollover and anti-ghosting technologies.
Other nice touches include a small wrist rest (not detachable unfortunately for those with less desk space) and braided USB cable.
The Carbon KB-001 certainly looks sleek though we will have to wait until reviews hit to known how well it performs. Mushkin has not announced pricing or availability, but The Tech Report claims it will launch for around $70 which is not bad at all if the build quality is there
Mushkin appears to be joining the likes of G.Skill, Corsair, and others in diversifying into other markets and away from only specializing in memory and mass storage. In the end this should be a good thing for Mushkin and for consumers as it means memory manufacturers are going to be able to hang in there despite low memory prices and we can continue to see competition. Compared to the spinning rust market where the small guys have gotten swallowed up and we have only three major players left, there are a ton of memory and SSD players — and I hope it stays that way!
It seems like a direct
It seems like a direct rip-off of Delux KM02.

In my country, it costs $60 and has been here for a while.
thank you for providing the
thank you for providing the link.
I don’t think it should be called “direct rip-off” since it’s 100% identical. They’re just using the same oem which means they’re rebranding. As for the 10$ price increase. the Mushkin keyboard has Kailh Brown key switches while the GT one has blue Brown key switches. Also, I’m sure the provided software will suck less 😀
Damn that is so fffaakin sexy

Keyboard is great but I wish
Keyboard is great but I wish companies stop making these two letter abbreviation on functional keys… PrtScn is fine and shortened enough to fit on keys.
This is not useful innovation. Have you guys ever noticed how started this trend of abbreviations to only two letters.. PS instead of PrintScreen?
I believe it started when
I believe it started when companies decided that not enough light was penetrating backlit keyboards’ keys so they made the letters bigger and thicker, essentially having even smaller abbreviations. I know the feeling, I believe it sucks too. And damn that rectangular font! Ough >.<
So now keyboards need to come
So now keyboards need to come with their own decoder rings. My laptop’s key is labled prt sc and that appears to be the minimum before things get a little cryptic. At least the back-lit keys are durable and the letters never wear off completely what with the keys being semi-transparent and the letter’s shape actually carved/molded into the key itself. This mechanical keyboard looks like it will be easy to clean with no deep grooves that trap dirt and dust. I wish that they made a drop in laptop keyboard replacement with better keys instead of the crappy decal keys that are mostly used on laptops, but laptops are non standard with their keyboard designs.
That is sooo sexy. Sold!!!

There are only a few memory
There are only a few memory makers left:
Micron
SK Hynix
Samsung
Who else is left? How many companies even make NAND? IMFT, Samsung, Toshiba?
There really are very few companies who make things, but tons of companies slap their name on shit.
