A Detailed Look
The PRIME Titanium Series power supplies incorporate extremely tight voltage regulation, which Seasonic calls Micro Tolerance Load Regulation (MTLR). This results in the three primary rails (+3.3V, +5V, and +12V) exhibiting less than or equal to 0.5% voltage drop within the tight 2% voltage regulation range!

One of the techniques that Seasonic uses to achieve such tight load regulation is remote voltage sensing, which is implemented by adding voltage sense wires to the 24-pin ATX cable bundle. For the +3.3V, +5V and +12V DC outputs load carrying wires deliver power from the PSU to the 24-pin ATX connector. But additional wires are added to “sense” each of the voltages at the ATX connector and send a signal back to the load regulation circuits. As the load increases, voltage typically drops at the connector, and the load regulation circuits compensate by slightly increasing the output voltages as the loads go up.
The Seasonic PRIME Titanium Series power supply enclosures are painted satin black with white lettering and chrome fan grill trim. The units measure 170mm (6.7”) long. The back panel includes an On-Off switch, AC receptacle and a Hybrid Mode switch to enable or disable fanless operation.
All three power supplies use the same high-quality 135mm Hong Hua fan (HA13525M12F-Z) that incorporates a fluid dynamic bearing for quiet operation and long, reliable life. The fan is rated for 0.36A and 1800 rpm at 12 VDC.
The PRIME 850W front panel includes sixteen connectors for the modular cables, all nicely labeled. Note the connectors are rather closely spaced, which made it slightly difficult to get my large fingers in to release the latches when I wanted to disconnect cables from a fully populated PSU.

The PRIME Titanium Series power supplies each come with an excellent assortment of fully modular cables for easy installation and clean builds. All of the cables are the flat ribbon-style except for the 24-pin ATX cable which is covered with black plastic braiding.

Under the Hood
Here are a few pictures showing the layout and components inside the three PRIME Titanium Series power supplies. Of course Seasonic is the OEM! The layout and build quality appear to be excellent.
PRIME 650W Titanium PSU
Seasonic is using a state of the art, high-performance full-bridge LLC, Synchronous Rectification power conversion design along with DC-to-DC voltage regulators located on a daughter card to provide outstanding voltage regulation and high efficiency.
PRIME 750W Titanium PSU
As you can see in the photos, the internals very similar for all three power supplies. The main difference is the size/rating of various components increases as the power output goes up. All of the Japanese made capacitors are rated for 105°C operation.

My only regret is that I may never own one of these, because my present PSU (1kw Seasonic KM3 gold) is taking too long to die.
Has Seasonic got their coil
Has Seasonic got their coil whine situation sorted out yet? I think I’ve had 1 out of 6 Seasonic X and Platinum series units that didn’t have an unacceptable level of noise (what the hell is the point of quiet fans and passive operation if the circuitry is squealing like a pig with its nuts in a vice?), so I’ve been using SuperFlower based PSUs over the last year or so.
The SuperFlower Leadex plugs/sockets are also 100x better than Seasonic’s death grip ones which always feel like they’re taking excessive force to insert in my experience.
Not sure, but I’ve had the
Not sure, but I’ve had the same problems. I learned that it’s better to buy Corsair with Seasonic as the key, because then you can at least do an advanced exchange. It gets old having to wait for a replacement after three times.

I have not experienced any high frequency whine from any of the units I have tested – dead silent.

And no catsup-and-mustard coloring at the end of those beautiful cables! Awesome!

I picked up one of the 750W models to replace a 5 year old Seasonic X (which was great). Have been extremely satisfied with these PSUs and i recommend them to everyone. Keep up the great reviews guys!
I just built a new machine
I just built a new machine with an X850 Gold. No regrets buying it but the primes look really nice too.
I dont know why they didnt go with a Sanyo Denki fan.

Seems like clutching at straws 🙂
Maybe sometimes it OK to say “This product is actually perfect”

Excellent review as always, I
Excellent review as always, I just bought the PRIME 850 W Titanium.
However you may want to update your review as Seasonic have now raise their industry leading warranty to 12 years (from 10 years).
I found out about it on Toms Hardware.
