SYSmark 2014 SE

SYSmark® 2014 SE (Second Edition) is an application-based benchmark that reflects usage patterns of business users in the areas of Office Productivity, Data/Financial Analysis and Media Creation. Joining these in SYSmark 2014 SE is a new Responsiveness scenario which models ‘pain points’ in the user experience when performing common activities. SYSmark 2014 SE features the most popular applications from each of their respective fields.

We are limited to a 7700K vs 6700K comparison here due to the time to run SYSmark, but it is the most relevant to this launch. The overall result is 7.5% faster on the new Kaby Lake processor than Skylake while in the Media Creation sub-test that jumps to 8.5%. As you go through the results on the rest of these pages you'll note that these are easily the best results in favor of Intel's 7th Generation processors. This is a result of improved Speed Shift technology (detailed in my Kaby Lake mobile testing) and the "bursty" nature of the office application workloads at use here. SYSmark tends to emphasis the amount of time spent waiting in programs like Excel, Premiere, PowerPoint and others, and the ability for Kaby Lake to spike up to its top frequency quicker than Skylake gives it the advantages you see above.

The latest version of SiSoft Sandra offers up a lot of new features including GPU performance, OpenCL, etc.

The Intel Core i7-7700K Review - Kaby Lake and 14nm+ - Processors 9

From a pure CPU arithmetic point of view, there is no difference between the Core i7-7700K and the Core i7-6700K, with some regressions (slight) seen at multimedia and cache testing. This is the least impactful result set in our current benchmark suite, so let's see what the application workloads tell us on the following pages.
