Gigabyte have lead with five motherboards, two X370s under Aorus and three B350s with Gigabyte branding. They all share some traits in common such as RGB Fusion with 16.8 million colours to choose from and an application to allow you to customize the light show to your own specifications. It supports control from your phone if you are so addicted to the glow you need to play with your system from across the room.
Smartfan 5 indicates the presence of five headers for fans or pumps that will work with PWM and standard voltage fans, which can draw up to 12V at 2A. The boards also have six temperature sensors to give you feedback on the effectiveness of your cooling and modify it with the included application. Most models will offer Thunderbolt 3, Intel GbE NICs and an ASMedia 2142 USB 3.1 controllers which they claim can provide up to 16Gb/s. All will have high end audio solutions, often featuring a headphone pre-amp and high quality capacitors. There are a lot more features specific to each board, so make sure to click through to check out your favourites.
The Aorus boards, the GA-AX370-Gaming K7 and GA-AX370-GAMING 5 are very similar but if you plan on playing with your BCLK it is the K7 which includes Gigabyte's Turbo B-Clock. The Gigabyte lineup includes the GA-AB350M, GA-AB350-Gaming and GA-AB350-GAMING 3. The GA-AB350M is the only mATX Ryzen board of these five for those looking to build a smaller system. For audiophiles the full size the GAMING 3 includes an ALC1220 codec as opposed to the ALC 887 used on the other two models.
You can expect to see reviews of these boards which offer far more details on perfomance and features after they are released on March 2nd. Full PR under the break.

this is so annoying, if i had some reviews mostly for AM4 motherboards, i would have pre-ordered Ryzen.
completely new architecture, is not easy to pick the most stable/overclocker mobo just by looks and advertised features, it’s bound to have bugs on the initial line up.
i just hope NDA lifts 28 feb.
You’re not really losing out
You’re not really losing out on anything. Pre-orders are pre-orders. AMD is making more processors and you’ll still be able to buy one, once the reviews are out, and you have time to make a formed decision.
We kind of need a processor
We kind of need a processor to be able to test the boards.
Maybe find a Bristol Ridge
Maybe find a Bristol Ridge processor from an OEM system. Did AMD ever make any BR SKUs for the consumer market or was that only for OEMs?
Anyways, Disco Stu likes Gigabyte too!
Gig, Gig, Gig, Gigabyte Lites!
They are allegedly coming
They are allegedly coming later thid year but i have a feeling they will either be cancelled since they are so late or tjey will come out but be irrelevant as Raven Ridge will be ready by the time AMD ships BR consumer chips.
The solution in simple, use a
The solution in simple, use a time machine to go into the future, then get one of the CPUs, then come back and perform some benchmarks.
I’m seeing quite a few people
I’m seeing quite a few people looking for a high-end mATX X370 board, and I’m thinking I may (regretfully) go ATX instead of mATX unless something is announced in the next week.
I’m assuming if Gigabyte was going to have a Gaming 5(m) anytime soon they have included it in with this batch? I don’t suppose they’d ever comment about a potential timeline?

“Most models will offer
“Most models will offer Thunderbolt 3”
Pretty sure all AMD boards can’t include Thunderbolt 3 right???
Why not! Motherboard makers
Why not! Motherboard makers can purchase TB3 controller chips and include that on their AM4 motherboards. Intel can’t limit that usage and in fact Intel has been working with AMD to utilize TB3 to external TB3/PCIe boxes compatibility for AMD’s GPU SKUs. TB3 controllers are connected up Via PCIe lanes so MB makers will have no problems using TB3 controllers on any AM4 motherboards and Intel will sell them the TB3 controller chips to make it happen!
The only advantage that Intel has is that Intel can include the TB3 controller IP in its chipsets while for AMD’s AM4 motherboards the MB maker will have to purchase an external TB3 controller SKU and interface it via PCIe. I’ll even bet that if AMD where to pay to include the TB3 IP in its chipsets that Intel would probably license that usage also for a price. AMD licenses the Nvidia’s SLI IP for inclusion on its X370 motherboard chipsets so that’s just business.
“Pretty sure all AMD boards can’t include Thunderbolt 3 right???”
I’m pretty sure that you do not have the slightest idea how businesses and IP licensing works!
Why Intel is looking to license some very basic GPU IP from AMD, the very same very basic IP licensing that Nvidia also provided! Some necessary very basic GPU licensing so Intel’s in house GPU designs could be legally sold with out infringing on AMD’s/Nvidia’s very basic and shared GPU IP.
Intel has to license this basic GPU IP even for its own in house graphics designs as those Intel in house GPU designs would infringe on IP that both Nvidia and AMD have the rights to. So Intel has the choice of using the IP licensing from either Nvidia or AMD so that Intel’s in house GPUs/graphics in Intel SOCs can be legally sold on the market. I’m sure that Intel and AMD could become licensing buddies for that very basic GPU IP license that Intel is legally required to have for some of the technology that Intel has used all along in its in house GPU designs from day one.
So I’ll bet that Intel would be happy to allow AMD to include any TB3 IP in its AM4 chipsets if AMD give’s Intel that very basic GPU IP license that will allow Intel to continue to legally sell it SOCs(with Intel In House designed graphics) in the market place. Hey it’s an IP licensing swap and AMD has the upper hand in the dealings because if Intel does not like Nvidia’s IP licensing terms for that very basic GPU IP then Intel has to get it from AMD. Business is business and maybe AMD’s very basic GPU IP licensing deal is lower cost than Nvidia’s and can be made even lower with some TB3 licensing options for AMD also. IP licensing Deals are Deals and IP licensing contracts are contracts!
Thunderbolt? U wut m8?

This would certainly explain the 100 usd price difference between some of the 370X boards, still dont really believe it…
GA-AX370 looks like a winner.
GA-AX370 looks like a winner.
whatever happened to the X300
whatever happened to the X300 series chipset for mini-itx
or even a x370 chipset in mATX? formfactor?
I’m happy AMD seems to be
I’m happy AMD seems to be competitive again it will make Intel either lower prices or innovate more (perhaps both). I’m sad that even though Ryzen looks very good, my 2 year old 4.6ghz 5930k is still very competitive with these brand new chips. Looking at the leaked benchmarks it just wouldn’t make sense for me to upgrade to a new CPU/MB at this point. I’m kind of hoping Intel lowers the price of the 6900k to the ~$500 range to compete.
It looks like I will be sitting out of this round of CPU upgrades and investing in a 1080Ti instead.
Gigabyte burned me as a
Gigabyte burned me as a customer when I shelled out for a X97X-UD3H-BK (still using), and the USB3.0 drivers interfere with audio quality over VOIP like ventrilo.
In short, I have to choose between being able to use USB3.0 speeds or being able to talk with others in my clan.
Unacceptable.
the headline is not as bad as
the headline is not as bad as the mistaken statement that Thunderbolt will be included. In fact it will NOT be possible to have Thunderbolt on machines built with these motherboards, as for whatever reason (most likely no licensing deal yet)there are no TB chips included. I don’t think there is ANY AM4 MB with a TB chip available. You would think that would be news itself we would all already know, but apparently we are NOT being fed good info about TB on AM4. If anyone knows otherwise please provide into and links thanks.

* Because of the limited I/O resources of the PC architecture, the number of Thunderbolt™ devices that can be used is dependent on the number of the PCI Express devices being installed. (Refer to Chapter 1-7, "Back Panel Connectors," for more information.)
* Support for DisplayPort 1.2 version.
