Arriving soon on Steam for Fallout 4 owners is an texture update which is rather impressive in size. Not only do you need the space to fit a game that will triple in size but the hardware requirements have gone up, at the least an i7-5820K, 8GB GTX 1080 or RX 490 8GB and 8GB of RAM is recommended. You will be able to add the content on Steam and easily remove it if your box is not quite up to the task. Rock, Paper, SHOTGUN were also told next week is bringing new features to Mod content. Follow the link for screenshots.
"Can your box blast bonny Boston? Is your rig ready for the roof felt? Can your hog handle HD hats? Is your silicon-snorting framecrusher pumped for 60 reps of sand a second? Will your deck deck the decking? Read on for the system requirements."

Are they ever going to use
Are they ever going to use engine or update engine so it compresses textures?
FYI, Bethesda has removed
FYI, Bethesda has removed mention of the RX 490. Now it only lists the GTX 1080.
True, but some of us aren’t
True, but some of us aren't deleting that little slip from our memory.
If only the engine itself
If only the engine itself weren’t a piece of shit. Playing above 60 fps breaks the engine. Playing at 60 fps is an eyesore with added stuttering.
My STUTTER disappeared when I
My STUTTER disappeared when I used NVInspector to force on 60.7FPS.
It was a constant stutter/judde then became silky smooth after similar to the ifpsclamp=60 fix (so may have issues too if dropping below 60FPS but I haven’t tested that).
Not sure if this applies to everybody, or how AMD can do this (RadeonPro?) or how it affects monitors that are not 60Hz.
I’d like to see the numbers
I’d like to see the numbers on how many people can play this… I guess I’m out with my 4690k and 980 ti.
Nah, I’d guess you can run it
Nah, I’d guess you can run it at 60 fps with no issues.
With my 5960X, 980ti setup,
With my 5960X, 980ti setup, fallout 4 still didn’t run 4k consistently at 60 fps. So, that seems unlikely …
GTX1080 here running
GTX1080 here running 2560×1440 at max settings (except probably dropped anti-aliasing) and I occasionally dip below 60FPS.
4K would be closer to HALF the FPS so I’d get between 25FPS and 40FPS.
Bethesda recommends a “GTX1080 or better” as well, so I don’t think the 58GB patch is meant for lower cards. You COULD but then you’d be dropping OTHER settings as you really need to maintain a solid 60FPS for this game.
(note my comment above about NVInspector at 60.7FPS if you have any constant stuttering).
“RX 490 8GB”
Confirmed???
“RX 490 8GB”
Confirmed??? /s
Just a typo.
I’m not so sure about that
I’m not so sure about that yet. I mean, if it was just a typo, why wouldn’t they just correct the typo when it was discovered, instead of deleting the reference entirely?

GTX 1080?!? Holy graphics
GTX 1080?!? Holy graphics processor, Batman! I’ve only got a measly GTX 970. I’m pretty sure this is the first time I’ve ever owned a graphics card that actually failed to meet minimum standards in a game I was interested in.
Exact same thing happened to
Exact same thing happened to my with my HD5870 and Skyrim. The Skyrim HD Texture Pack came out and my frame rate dropped below 60FPS and stuttered (lack of GPU power and VRAM likely).
