Acer announced a number of products at their next@acer press event in New York yesterday, but this new monitor might take the cake: a 4K HDR display with a 144 Hz refresh rate. The Predator X27 combined just about every conceivable feature for a gaming monitor and combines it into one product, but don't expect this 27-inch monitor be released at a budget price (pricing has not been announced).
"Acer’s Predator X27 portrays astonishingly vibrant visuals without motion blur thanks to a high 4K (3840×2160) resolution at a 144 Hz refresh rate, a fast 4 ms response time and a 1,000 nit peak brightness. Featuring Acer HDR Ultra technology, it offers the best possible contrast quality of the high dynamic range with advanced LED local dimming in 384 individually-controlled zones that shine light only when and where it is required. It not only delivers a broader, more deeply saturated color gamut, but a luminance range several times greater than that of traditional dynamic range monitors. By dimming the backlight behind parts of the screen displaying black, blacks appear deeper and darker on those parts of the panel, a significant bonus for people who play games with darker scenes."

Acer also announced a new curved gaming monitor with the Predator Z271UV, which offers a 1800R curve from its 27-inch display, but for HDR you'll need to stick to the X27. Quantum dot technology is incorporated into both display for wide color, and both feature NVIDIA G-SYNC variable refresh-rate tech featuring ULMB (ultra-low motion blur) along with with Tobii eye-tracking.

Most people are turned off by price and 27 inch size even more so.
So it’s definitely not a perfect monitor in those regards, besides the horsepower you’ll need to take advantage of it and the cost related to that horsepower.

Not sure where you're coming from there, but Freesync and G-Sync are basically identical at this point, save some overdrive differences where Freesync panels tend to not be as stringently tuned as the G-Sync panels.

Who remembers the price of 1st 4k monitors and the 1st Gen Titans it took to run games at those settings.
It will cost you $6000 minimum take take advantage of this monitor in it’s full glory currently everyone is hyped about this technology, although Asus was the 1st to show off their prototypes at past ces and will be the 1st to the market 1 quarter sooner scheduled.
I’m personally waiting for some HDR ultrawide 3440 x1440p monitors at 144hz and adaptive sync capable for a more palatable price. Hopefully freesync 2.0 and Vega will put some fearce competition in terms of quality and pricing as well.

Maybe$6k is steep but 2 non reference 1080ti plus or minus water cooling, 32 gigs ddr4 memory, a CPU that can handle 144hz 4k without bottleneck, a decent power supply a decent case with added noctua fans to get some silent most efficient cooling, radiator closed loop CPU cooling as well or custom loop and a enthusiast motherboard to glue everything together plus nvme ssds if you want the current storage standard will cost you more than 4k
And then we have this 4k monitor for $2000.
Anyway have you ran any modern games like deus ex you’ll be lucky to hit 60 fps at 4k with 1080tis oc in sli.
I mean if you are paying $6k plus who wants compromise obviously no anti aliasing needed but everything else dialed to max.
These are for the ultra enthusiast but limited to 27 inches.
FYI next year you’ll be able to purchase a successor monitor at a fraction of the cost as well as 2 Volta based gpus GTX 2070s in sli similar performance at a fraction of the cost, the cost will be roughly half just one year later to run games 4k at 144 hz waiting is an option.

Uh, you do NOT have to run a game at 4K, nor do you have to run it at 144FPS. In fact, the POINT of GSync is that you can run at variable frame times.
Deus Ex MD can be enjoyed very nicely with a single GTX1070 and tweak the game settings so you average maybe 50FPS.
I run most games at 60FPS with minor tweaks were necessary (GTX1080) but quality is usually close to what the highest ULTRA settings do anyway.
*Also, you’re messing with multi-GPU which is problematic in itself. The BEST system you can build right now would be with a SINGLE GTX1080Ti, and a good GSYNC monitor.
I’m a little SAD that people throw good money away, constantly chasing the dream of the perfect gaming system when a little more knowledge could give a BETTER experience for cheaper.

This monitor is also using the new Quantum Dot to provide much deeper blacks. It’s really the BEST monitor (AFAIK) that you will be able to buy when available.
FREESYNC HDR is likely going to be nearly identical go GSYNC HDR in terms of performance, but rumor is AMD may LICENSE and with the added work (it’s not trivial) sorting out HDR with Freesync I suspect prices won’t be that different on average.
(though XBOX ONE SCORPIO is going to support Freesync HDR. If that’s an interest for HDTV, or MONITOR keep an eye on that.)
