The new instalment to the Mass Effect series has arrived, with a lot of press both positive and negative. What many want to know is not which bug is most amusing, but if their GPU has what it takes to run the game at 4k or if they are better at 1440p or 1080p. [H]ard|OCP's testing shows RX 480 and GTX 1060 owners can manage 1440p with some graphical sacrifices which owners of GTX 1070s or 1080s will be able to enjoy. For those looking for a playable experience at 4k the GTX 1080 Ti is the only card that can manage it and even that card struggles somewhat. Pop by for all the details, including memory usage.
"Let’s find out how various video cards perform in Mass Effect: Andromeda and what it takes to play this game smoothly at 1080p, 1440p, and 4K. In this preview we’ll examine several video cards, compare apples to apples performance and find the highest playable game settings for each video card."

Just a shame the the
Just a shame the the animation work is dog shit
And the writing.
I’ve lost
And the writing.
I’ve lost count of how many characters approach flirting and other things like an awkward gawky teenager. Like literally *severely* awkward. It’s like the developers make sure to imbue every single character with “aw shucks, I’m so weird and dunno how to talk to someone I like”…
The first trilogy was about a bunch of bad asses being bad ass but this game is all about the ugliest and most socially awkward people from earth who can’t express or understand emotions being sent out to another galaxy to save the species.
I’ll play it in some time,
I’ll play it in some time, when issues are hopefully fixed.
They should have delayed this game tbh.
a patch is due tomorrow,
a patch is due tomorrow, supposed to fixe some of the facials and lips sync, but most of what’s wrong with andromeda cannot be fixed, they will touch on facial but it will still look ugly, they can better lip sync, but the dialogue would still be crappy, and the delivery would still be disconnected emotionaly to the text.
adromeda is definitly the kind of games that you have to force yourself to play.
I really have enjoyed ME:A.
I really have enjoyed ME:A. I’m almost at the end. No spoilers – but will just say story initial hook starts out OK/good.. then gets a bit weak, and then ~ 2/3rds in it starts to really pick up again. There’s a lot of components to what’s going on once you explore the game. I just find the animations amusing – I think people are making a big deal out of nothing — animated characters are always below the uncanny valley, so why should the animations be fully human?
Anyway, runs great on OC i7-2600K, 980Ti OC at 3440×1440 all Ultra.
