ZOTAC is claiming bragging rights about the size of their new GTX 1080 Ti's, that they are the smallest of their kind. The two new cards measure a miniscule 210.8mm (8.3") in length and in the case of the Arctic Storm mini it is the lightest watercooled GPU on the market.
You can see the size of the ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Mini by how much of the length is taken up by the PCIe connector, compared to most 1080 Ti's which are over a foot long. This card is not long enough to fit a third fan on.
The Arctic Storm version is the same size as the air-cooled model but opts for the worlds lightest watercooler. That may mean you want a powerful pump attached to the GPU as there is less metal to transfer heat but it means small silent builds can pack a lot of graphical power.
Both these cards will use dual 8-pin PCIe power connectors, expect to see more of them at Computex.
The DVI connector on that
The DVI connector on that mini 1080 Ti with the waterblock is hurting my eyeballs. Why oh why is that not a single slot adapter? It defies reason.
agreed, I’ve been saying that
agreed, I’ve been saying that DVI needs to die for a while now, but especially on small cards or ones that come with waterblocks from the factory. the whole point of this card is to be small, that DVI connector is making it a 2 slot when it could easily be a single slot.
From the few pictures they
From the few pictures they sent, even the watercooled one seems to be 2 slot, which also struck me as odd with the fitting placement. They didn't send a back view so it might be able to slip into a single but it is hard to tell without more pictures.
From what I see, one would
From what I see, one would need to saw off the DVI connector. That’s unfortunate. There are use cases where one might want more than three or four of those mini 1080 Tis in the same workstation class motherboard. The two slot factory requirement makes that a bit of a challenge, and warranty voiding if someone were to make the change themselves.
Who the f*** is buying a
Who the f*** is buying a 1080ti with a custom loop water block that needs DVI? 100% agree it should be single slot
Sad. This card went from a
