Ars Technica had the chance to test Dell's new $5000 UltraSharp UP3218K, a 32" 10-bit IPS panel with a resolution of 7680×4320. It uses two DisplayPort 1.4 connections to drive this beast and as even the GTX 1080 Ti struggles with high graphics settings at 4k there are some performance problems. Ars was able to test Rise of the Tomb Raider, Metro: Last Light, and GTA V and while they ran at 8K on a single GTX 1080 Ti; "they also crashed. A lot." GTA V performed the best of the lot, reaching a high of 50FPS and a low of 15FPS, though they looked very pretty while doing so. "While Acer's 4K, HDR-ready, 144Hz Predator X27 gaming monitor is pretty hot, Dell has something even better: the 8K Dell UltraSharp UP3218K (buy here). This, if you're unfamiliar, is a display that sports a whopping 7680×4320 pixels spread over a 32-inch 10-bit IPS panel."

I don’t want one of these. I want three. Also, if you’re interested in some idea of how your setup may run at higher resolutions, the new Unigine Superposition benchmark has some fun settings.

8k, maybe a quad setup of the highend vega could run games at good frame rates?
I’m lazy, someone do the math of what it would take bandwidth wise to run stream 8k games/video.

i did a rough estimate, but not bandwidth wise, and it would take a shit load of bucks and a mighty psu
Well the simple answer is it
Well the simple answer is it will take 4x the bandwidth to stream and play games @ 8K than it does at 4K. You might have to wait until the release after Volta (next Nvidia update after Pascal) at the earliest to get the performance to run 8K, but even then I think it would be 10 years until mainstream cards could play 8K at 60fps. Also how many people will seriously want an 8K monitor, they will always be big dollars simply not needed by the vast majority of people. Most people don’t even need 4K monitors, although I wish 1080p monitors would go away and 1440p was the baseline.

The specs look decent. 100% Adobe RGB and 98% DCI-P3 would mean it covers a significant portion of Rec.2020 but no mention of its Rec.2020 coverage is made…

4 GTX TITAN XP? What a fool… I rather used 2 GTX 1080 Ti. More power, cheaper, much less power consuming.
