Gigabyte is joining the small form factor Ryzen motherboard market with its new GA-AB350N-Gaming WIFI. The new Mini ITX motherboard sports AMD’s AM4 socket and B350 chipset and supports Ryzen “Summit Ridge” CPUs, Bristol Ridge APUs (7th Gen/Excavator), and future Zen-based Raven Ridge APUs. The board packs a fair bit of hardware into the Mini ITX form factor and is aimed squarely at gamers and enthusiasts.
The AB350N-Gaming WIFI has an interesting design in that some of the headers and connectors are flipped versus where they are traditionally located. The chipset sits to the left of CPU socket above the 6-phase VRMs and PowIRStage digital ICs. Four SATA 6Gbps ports and a USB 3.0 header occupy the top edge of the board. Two DDR4 dual channel memory slots are aligned on the right edge and support (overclocked) frequencies up to 3200 MHz depending on the processor used. The Intel wireless NIC, Realtek Gigabit Ethernet, and Realtek ALC1220 audio chips have been placed in the space between the AM4 socket and the single PCI-E 3.0 x16 slot. There is also a single M.2 (PCI-E 3.0 x4 32Gbps) slot on the underside of the motherboard. Gigabyte has also integrated “RGB Fusion” technology with two on board RGB LED lighting zones and two RGBW headers for off board lighting strips as well as high end audio capacitors and headphone amplifier. Smart Fan 5 technology allegedly is capable of automatically differentiating between fans and water pumps connected to the two fan headers and will automatically provide the correct PWM signal based on fan curves the user can customize in the UEFI BIOS. The motherboard is powered by a 24-pin ATX and 8-pin EPS and while it does not have a very beefy power phase setup it should be plenty for most overclocks (especially with Ryzen not wanting to go much past 4 GHz (easily) anyway).
Rear I/O includes:
- 1 x PS/2
- 2 x Antenna (Intel 802.11ac Wi-Fi + BT 4.2)
- 2 x USB 2.0
- 2 x USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10Gbps)
- 4 x USB 3.1 Gen 1 (5Gbps)
- 6 x Audio (5 x analog, 1 x S/PDIF)
- 1 x DisplayPort 1.2
- 1 x HDMI 1.4
- 1 x Realtek GbE
Gigabyte has an interesting SFF motherboard with the GA-AB350N-Gaming WIFI and I am interested in seeing the reviews. More Mini ITX options for Ryzen and other Zen-based systems is a good thing, and moving the power phases to the left may end up helping overclocking and cooling in smaller cases with tower coolers.
Unfortunately, Gigabyte has not yet revealed pricing or availability. Looking around online at its competition, i would guess it would be around $85 though.

Ryan and Co: I think the ASRock Ryzen ITX MB comes out in a few weeks. I believe that’s the last of the 3 Ryzen ITX MB’s that have been announced (at least to my knowledge). Would it be possible to do a comparison / shootout article? It’s been a while since there have been so many AMD based options and for ITX based HTPC’s and SFF PC’s it would be timely and unique. Thanks!!
So close, if only Intel
So close, if only Intel Ethernet as well.
Looks like cable management
Looks like cable management would be even more of a pain than normal for an itx board. 24pin, 8 pin, all SATA, USB3, etc. would need to run to the top of the case in tower style cases.
Hmm yeah I guess it depends
Hmm yeah I guess it depends where your cable routing holes are, 8 pin and SATA should be fine but 24-pin might be tough since I can't think of many motherboard panels that have wide cutouts up top. If you did have the routing holes though it might work out well–the 24-pin coming off the side then runnign all the way to the ATX cable hole always looked tacky to me, even mATX can have that problem in big cases, harder to hide the cables if the holes are further away. To be fair though, mITX and mATX are usually paired with a smaller case so that's not an issue. I did a build once that ran into that though where i went with a mid tower case but small mobo because it was cheaper than the atx at the time since it was on sale and the ATX one wasn't.
Might be the better board for
Might be the better board for a Dans Case A4-SFX for the positions of the power and sata connectors. If it’s really $85 USD I might pick one up.
“Bristol Ridge APUs (7th
“Bristol Ridge APUs (7th Gen/Excavator),”
Are their any Bristol Ridge CPU SKUs that a home builder can purchase? It looks like the OEMs are the only ones with access to any Bristol Ridge APU SKUs. I would not mind getting this board and using the top end Bristol Ridge APU SKU while waiting for the Zen APU SKUs to show up.
Speaking of Zen/Vega Beased APUs, what is up with any timeline/roadmaps for any Ryzen Branded Zen/Vega APUs. Has the timeline for release been updated, will we hear more at SIGGRAPH or other event in 2017?
By the end fo the year for
By the end fo the year for Raven Ridge IIRC, I thought the leaked roadmaps showed fall but not sure at the moment.
As for Bristol Ridge, I dunno, it's like AMD announced them then just never shipped them lol. And eventually it got so delayed Ryzen came out and Raven Ridge was incoming and they just said fuck it? haha.
Well AMD is losing some sales
Well AMD is losing some sales on Bristol Ridge APUs because I’m willing to get this/competing motherboard and build a transitional Bristol Ridge APU based HTPC system that can be updated to a Zen/Vega APU at a later time.
Could someone at PCper ask AMD whats up with any Bristol Ridge socketed APU for the home system builder market. I was hoping that the RX 480s/580s/470s/570s woud have come down in price, but the new mining craze has killed that part of the low cost equation at the current time.
I know that any socketed Desktop Zen/Vega APUs will be popular and in short supply and AMD really should make some effort to supply some Bristol Ridge SKUs for the home system builder market because those Zen/Vega socketed PC APUs are going to be popular and hard to obtain for a good while.
I’m probably in the minority
I’m probably in the minority but I actually like the layout.
I’ll hold off until raven ridge comes out though.

Yeah it does.
Yeah it does.

Stop with the black and red
Stop with the black and red FFS…neutral colors or go the MSI route and give options for different colors -_-
I think you are way off on
I think you are way off on your price estimate.
For one, I can’t find any competition at $85. I can’t find any competition, period.
And this is a mini-ITX board, not a mATX. These always carry a premium.
And with the integrated wifi, the rgb shenanigans and what not, I won’t be surprised to see it closer to $150.
is the wifi chip
is the wifi chip replaceable?? man up and stop worrying about that sissy cable management crap. most of yall only run 2 drives or just a single ssd drive. if your so worried about cable management, then make sure you schedule an appointment to get your nails done too!
