NTFS or get out seems to be Microsoft's new OneDrive policy as if you try to upload files from disks formatted with their FAT32 or ReFS file systems you will be greeted with an error. This restriction has existed on Windows 8.1 for a while but it is a new twist now offered on the current Win 10 Insiders Edition, which does mean there is hope that it will be removed. This will have an effect on those who use ultramobile devices which depend on SD cards to extend their storage as well as those who have adopted Microsoft's new Resilient File System. You could try a non-destructive format of your drive, or move it to an NTFS disk to be able to then upload it. "Microsoft discovered a warning message that should have existed was missing when a user attempted to store their OneDrive folder on a non-NTFS filesystem – which was immediately remedied. Nothing has changed in terms of official support and all OneDrive folders will continue to need to be located on a drive with the NTFS filesystem."

When M$ took back 10gb of the 15gb OneDrive space, I went to GoogleDrive and never looked back. It beats OneDrive hands down in every way, including price.
Maybe the SD card/software
Maybe the SD card/software folks can invent a way to partition any SD card and make a small 5 GB, larger if needed, partition that can be formatted NTFS with another partition/s formatted FAT32/other file formats with firmware/software that can make the transfer from FAT32/Other to NTFS and then on to One Drive(should be called “NTFS not so One Drve” from now on) and get around that restriction.
Redmond is shooting themselvs in the foot again and Google/others have stepped in on many occations to take more business by offering users more flexability.
It’s just an example of the things that the folks in Redmond are trying once again to slip in under the RADAR with hopes of gradually closing up the windows 10 ecosystem.
They realised this error
They realised this error message was missing, then rather that leave it out because it seemed to work OK on non-NTFS drives and keep users happy they decided to put the message in and annoy many users someone has serious OCD problems at Microsoft.

…my add-on SD card is NTFS. OK I can’t just pop it in the DSLR without reformatting, but who doubles their DSLR card as a Onedrive scratchpad anyway
