A Detailed Look
The BeQuiet! SFX-L 600W power supply enclosure is painted with a satin black finish and trimmed with white and orange lettering. The power supply measures 130mm deep x 63mm x 125mm. The back panel includes an On-Off switch, AC receptacle and open honey-comb grill.
The power supply uses a high-quality Globe Fan (S1201512MB) for cooling that is rated for 0.25A at 12 VDC and features a Fluid Dynamic Bearing (FDB) for long life and quiet operation.
The front panel on the 600W PSU incorporates eight modular cable connectors.
All of the modular cables are flat ribbon-style to assist with neat cable routing and to help maximize airflow.
Under the Hood
Here are a few pictures showing the layout and components inside the BeQuiet! SFX-L 600W power supply. BeQuiet! is using High Power as the OEM for these new PSUs. The fact that BeQuiet! actually designs the power supply and carefully specs all the components is evident by the PCBs with the silk-screened company logo. The overall layout, soldering, and build quality look good.
The power supply features a modern circuit design for high efficiency and uses DC-to-DC converters to produce the +3.3V and +5V rails from the +12V output. All of the capacitors used inside the PSU are Japanese made (Nippon Chemi-con and Rubycon) with a good mix of electrolytic and solid polymer caps. For example the main bulk capacitor is made by Rubycon.
