Microsoft’s next generation Xbox One X gaming console is expected to launch on November 7th, 2017 and the Redmond-based company is making it as easy as possible to upgrade from current Xbox One and One S consoles. Specifically, Microsoft’s Xbox Program Management Corporate Vice President Mike Ybarra revealed that gamers would be able to prepare for the switch to the new console by downloading 4K game updates ahead of time and making the transfer process simple by using a wizard and either an external hard drive or network transfer to move console settings and game data over from their old console to the Xbox One X.
So far, Microsoft has announced that approximately 100 games from its existing catalog will have 4K updates available including Halo 5, Halo Wars 2, Forza Motorspot 7, Fallout 4, NBA 2K18, Project Cars 2, Rocket League, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
Gamers will be able to pre-load 4K updates for their existing games onto their Xbox One or Xbox One S console. Once the Xbox One X launches, gamers will be able to transfer and keep most of their Xbox settings to the new console along with apps, games, and game save data. The data can be transferred by hooking up an external hard drive or by connecting both gaming consoles to the same LAN and starting the home network transfer by adding both consoles to your Xbox home and copying what you want between consoles.
I am interested to see if the Xbox One X is really able to live up to the claims of 4K60 gaming as well as the promised supersampling and anti-aliasing for gamers playing on 1080p displays (including older backwards compatible Xbox and Xbox 360 titles).
Are you planning on upgrading to the XBOX? What are your thoughts on the $499 console and its performance promises?

So this console is going to play Rise of Tomb Raider at
4K constant 60fps for 499.00 !!, is that real ??!!

it’s a game console, the vast majority of games will NOT do 4k60 on that console, the best you’ll get is 4k30 with some visual trickery to seem like 4k on vast majority of games.
Hopefully that make the
Hopefully that make the process as painless as the PS4 -> PS4 Pro transition: plug network cable between consoles, start copy operation on both consoles, data goes across at line speed.

Hopefully!
So far I have not had much desire to upgrade, I prefer the close in experience of a PC game unless it's local multiplayer though those are hard to find on consoles now anyway. To be honest I have not heard much hype on the One X compared to the One from my (albeit small) circle of friends and coworkers. There's just not much excitement for it esp. at $499.
We shall see how it does I guess!
I only got a PS4 (and then
I only got a PS4 (and then Pro, damn that moronic staggered release!) for PSVR, and the handful of PS4 exclusives as a secondary benefit. XB1 doesn’t have any exclusives that interest me, and with most games getting dual console + PC releases I generally just get the PC version.
I’d like to see Microsoft
I’d like to see Microsoft start including an SSD in the Xbox. Even if it’s just as a cache a 120GB ssd is fairly cheap. Or maybe a SKU with a 500GB SSD?
Something like optane could
Something like optane could be a great alternative as well, so the console had ssd like performance but the capacity of a hdd. Game files are only going to get bigger.
Doubt that will be a potential option anytime soon though, since it’s AMD Base hardware.
Micron the co-creator on 3D
Micron the co-creator on 3D XPoint memory is supposed to have its QuantX branded 3D XPoint memory product out before the end of 2017. And Micron appears to be wanting to license its 3D XPoint to other drive/NVM makers. So It’s not all about Intel with regards to 3D XPoint memory, but that competition will start hopefully by the end of 2017.
Lucky you, it does have an
Lucky you, it does have an 8GB flash cache built in!
wonder if theyll make this
wonder if theyll make this one upgradeable because the external storage doesn’t work on Xbox one s. i got a few 2 TB USB sticks that won’t be seen on the Xbox. can’t be formatted inside it either to be made useable. if they make the hdd replaceable i could tossin this 1TB 850 Pro and make it really fly.
They do work maybe something
They do work maybe something wrong with the ones you are using but as long as they are USB 3.0 meet transfer rate requirements and are at least 256gb you are good
