The newest Radeon Software ReLive 17.9.2 is especially worth grabbing if you have or plan to have more than one Vega based card in your system as it marks the return of Crossfire support. You can pair up Vega64 or Vega56 cards but do make sure they are a matched set. We haven't had time to test the performance results yet but you can be sure we will be working on that in the near future. Below are the results which AMD suggests you can expect in several different games, as well as a look at the other notes associated with this new driver.

Cross-Fire/SLI are POOP! So now on to explicit multi-GPU adaptor managed by the DX12/Vulkan graphics APIs. But I guess AMD had no choice with all the gamers clamoring for CF/Driver based multi-GPU support for those titles that still require it and have not made the move fully onto the DX12/Vulkan API managed multi-GPU adaptor support.
In the case of CF/SLI, I guess that some POOP is better than no POOP at all!

I hope that AMDers can afford the 1500 watt psu to run two rx Vega 64 cards. Might as well strike when they are selling like hotcakes as ;”fools” who rush in are soon parted from their money.
Gamers/Miners are not getting
Gamers/Miners are not getting their grubby little hands on any of the Cherry Vega 10 dies that are going into the Project 47’s cabinet. Those Consumer Vega 10 dies use a littel bit more power than The Cherry dies inside the Radeon Instinct MI25 SKUs and that Project 47 requires 80 Vega 10 dies in those 80 MI25’s that go in at Ratio of 4 MI25s to one Epyc 32 core CPU/1 Epyc SP3 Motherboard for 20 total Epyc 32 core CPUs.
So the Gamers and Coin Miners have to fight over the remaining Vega 10 dies that do not make the grade to be able to be used in any Radeon Instinct MI25/AI or Radeon Pro WX 9100/Compute SKUs. So AMD does not really need to worry about gamers and miners as they fight each other to get at those lower binned Vega(64/56) SKUs that do not do too badly on gaming workloads. Vega 10 is about Compute/AI and games well enough and that will improve when more games are DX12/Vulkan feature complete and start making use of that extra Vega 10 compute.
But really money is money and the Vega SKUs that are even making it onto the store shelves are very soon purchased, if they are not already spoken for and never make it from the store’s stockroom in the first place.
Those Project 47 systems(crunch FP(32bit)numbers at the rate of 1 Petaflop) and are really doubling up the 16bit(at twice the 32 bit rate) on AI wotkloads and that’s 80 Very Cherry Vega 10 dies that will never be in any Miners or Gamers hands. And that will see AMD’s revenues increase way above the consumer revenues at any loss leader pricing that AMD has attempted to offer its consumer gaming customers before the retailers made things rather difficult with their demand market pricing that AMD legally could not do anything about.
So ha ha ha for the Nvidia Gamers when JHH/Nvidia starts increasing GPU prices, beacuse JHH will not stand for any of his GPU offerings costing less than any of AMD’s GPU offerings.
And AMD will make a killing selling Vega 10 dies inside of Radeon Pro WX 9100/Radeon Pro WX 9100/SSD and Radeon Instinct MI25(80 at a time for Project 47) SKUs. And the the whining gamers and miners can put that in their pipes and smoke it!

Well, since you can’t actually use the “turbo” mode due to thermal throttling, they really draw around 285w while maxed out gaming. A lot of the hysteria about Vega’s super high power draws ignores the fact that these cards can’t actually run at those turbo settings because they promptly overheat. Might be an issue for watercooled set-ups, but at that point you’re probably way past caring about having to buy a big PSU.
