AI Suite 3
The AI Suite 3 application is a bundling mechanism for all the included ASUS designed utilities, providing a centralized panel from which to access and run the applets. All applets can be accessed by clicking on the expansion button on the middle left side of the page. The applet list then slides out to the right in a frame along the inside left of the page. The Overwolf utility is an in-game overlay that allow for display of an in-game utility bar for accessing a variety of apps and functions without leaving the game interface. ASUS offers a variety of premade skins and overlays through their ROG site.
Dual Intelligent Processors 5
The main app opens to the Dual Intelligent Processors 5 page, organized into separate sections for each of the four 4-Way Optimization features. The overclocking settings are housed in the TPU section. The EPU section houses power saving related settings. The DIGI+ VRM section houses settings specific to the board power circuitry, and the Fan Xpert4 section contains fan control settings. Along the top of the app are the current power saving settings enacted and the start button for the 5-Way Optimization wizard. Along the bottom of the app are real-time monitoring display settings.

ROG AURA RGB LED Lighting Control
The AURA applet controls the active state of the RGB LEDs embedded in to the board as well as LED strips connected to the board's RGB LED 12V header. The controlled LEDs can be configured for any desired color using the color picker control and to operate in a variety of modes including static, breathing, color cycle, rainbow, comet, flash and dash, strobing, temperature, and music effect.

ROG RAMCache II
The ROG RAMCache II application can be used to setup an external high-speed cache partition for any attached hard drives or SSDs using an allocated portion of system memory. The upper limit of the cache is determined by the amount of memory in the system.
ROG RAMDisk
The ROG RAMDisk application is used to setup a write-able partition using a portion of your system memory. Setting up a Junction point configures the program to auto-administer the selected folders and files to take advantage of the high-speed RAM disk partition.
ROG KeyBot II
KeyBot II is an ASUS-developed application that uses a chipset-centric approach to improving in-game keyboard macro speed and execution. The KeyBot II hardware process is slaved to the upper USB 2.0 slot on the board's rear panel with the Windows software used to configure macros, function keys, and shortcuts for customized game use. Furthermore, the Smart Input screen allows for storage of up to 50 characters into the KeyBot II chipset for use of the entered key sequence after invoking the user defined run button.

Mem TweakIt is used to configure memory timing settings with all settings from the BIOS available for configuration through Windows.
GameFirst IV
GameFirst IV is the latest revision of ASUS' application for optimizing network traffic through the on-board network controllers for gaming use. It offers the same functionality as offered with the Killer NIC series of network adapters. The application offers Auto mode with pre-configured profiles as well as Manual mode for more granular network traffic configuration.
Sonic Radar III
To take advantage of the integrated audio subsystem enhancements, ASUS includes their Sonic Radar III application. Sonic Radar III integrate a HUD into your first person shooter game to directionally track pre-configured sound effects in-game and real-time. The application includes a multitude of presets for a variety of game types as well as an auto-detect mode.
Sonic Studio III
The ROG Sonic Studio III applet is an ASUS developed application allowing for advanced configuration of the audio subsystem, and its attached input and output devices. The application provides effects type enhancements for the audio chipset provided control panel applet. Further, Sonic Studio III offers advanced tools for optimized in-game recording and streaming of those in-game sessions.

you have a PS/2 port ? and is it not the lower black USB port that is used for BIOS flashing ? (when comparing to my board)

Seems fishy to see a review
Seems fishy to see a review of this board that actually doesn’t mention any of the major issues people are complaining about. The Cold Boot issue, CPU, AIO, and motherboard fan headers shutting off completely for no reason until the system overheats, no AGESA update since 1.0.0.6, inconsistent BIOS updates, and basically the board has been abandoned by Asus support on their own official forum! Don’t buy this POS! How much was PCPer paid for their fictional favorable review?

Thanks for your input. Didn't see any of those issues in testing. It was a bit difficult to get dialed in, but no more than any new platform or first experience with a new platform…

Thank you for the review. I was the one who asked Ryan if you could do AMD motherboard reviews on Mailbag #2. Glad to see the first one done.
I would love to see the review of Crosshair VI Extreme but since that’s essentially a beefed up version of Hero it would problably not be very intresting. Maybe one of the better B350 boards or one of the other top X370 boards then. Keep up the good work.
2017 ? Huh, I’m just passing by. It’s now 2025 and I’m still using this motherboard. I upgraded CPU 4 times, and never had any problems with this motherboard. Ryzen 1600 > 2600X > 3600 > 5800X. First ryzens had problems, they had been reaching only very low frequencies, ryzen 1600 sucked quite alot in OC, 2600X was bad as well on this motherboard, in its time. ryzen 5 3600 was massive jump. And now 5800X was yet another massive leap in power, going from 6 to 8/16 cores. Frequency is reaching 4,85Ghz on all cores during gaming, even when 4,7Ghz is default boost frequency. Using watercooing on CPU + having Bios settings set to [cpu loadline 4/5, T-Probe is a go for Ryzens] and it’s working like a charm ! Just upgraded RAM to 3600Mhz 4x16GB modules (Tridenz), mind it’s AMD system. Did i mention it’s running 3600Mhz on RAM ? Just awesome job done – AMD chipset X370. After 8 years, still working. I’m a happy man.
