[H]ard|OCP have been working their way through every Threadripper compatible waterblock, the latest model to be tested is Phanteks' Glacier C399A. The top of the waterblock is clear acrylic, perfect if you plan on adding a little colour to your coolant especially if you make use of the Frag-Harder Disco Lights. Mounting is reasonably easy, no dedicated in or out connector to confuse and tightening can be accomplished with a small pair of pliers, which you may find necessary. The cooling performance was in line with the other coolers they've tested, though the C399A does lose some marks because of the need to tighten the mounting mechanism on occasion. Its the best block for TR4
Its the best block for TR4 socket IMHO. I have nothing but best things to say about it. Compared to EK Supremacy its two classes above. You can remove RGB strips for starters in 3 seconds flat. That’s obviously half of the success.
I don’t know what [H]OCP blabber about tightening the mounting mechanism. CPU socket must be faulty in some way. NO tools required of any kind! 399a is fool-proof you can’t mount it wrong. Any orientation will do, there is no designed inlet and outlet. Just screw it down and off you go. On a side note – I booted into Windows on empty block when testing. It still kept the CPU (on idle tho) in a manageable 75C region.
My 1920x is running at 38-42C (Tdie)/ 65-69C (Tctl) depending on ambient with constant minimum 75% load (its never on idle except like 5 seconds after booting Windows). On the same board. At 4 GHz with Kryonaut TIM.
