Intel can always hire AMD and
Intel can always hire AMD and nVidia engineers. They have enough money and evil in them.
Don’t hold your breath. A new
Don’t hold your breath. A new Si architecture for a complex chip takes 4-5 years from start to finish. Intel Itanium took nearly 7-years from start to finish and I think it’s safe to say that Intel has reasonable expertise in processors, so no delay in ramp up to get started accounts for the long development cycle. Iterative designs are quicker but can easily take 2-years per cycle once they have an initial design. If Intel is serious they’ll need at least 3 full teams so they can leapfrog each other to market adding features and keeping up.
A lot can happen from now to ship time. Intel has started and bailed many GPU efforts, unless we see serious effort on their part (more than just hiring a few really competent outsiders) we should be skeptical that this initiative will be any different from the others.

Samsung teased the idea of Linux on its flagship phones in October 2017, promising that Linux would run in your hand or, if you use its DeX dock, in full desktop mode on a monitor. Now it’s released the video below to show off its idea.

The problem with the way the
The problem with the way the logitech harmony link and hum works, is that they designed the firmware to get rid of all local access, instead it functions more like a botnet where you log into a command and control server that just allows you to control your device.
So instead of you touching a button and your device sending a signal over the LAN directly to the link or hub, it instead sends a request to a logitech command and control server, and that server then tells your harmony link or hub to then broadcast the requested IR command. Because of that functioning, if they kill the server or in the case of the link, simply decide to no longer allow the older device to connect to the server, then it is effectively bricked.
This is the same issue with all other IOT devices, instead of allowing local access to the device, in pursuit of planned obsolescence and allowing for new revenue streams by charging for features that were traditionally free with non-IOT devices, they add a ton more points of failure.
So Logitech Knows all your
So Logitech Knows all your habits like when your IOT connected lights are on late at night into the wee hours of the morning and you happen to be around retirement age. And logitech’s personal metrics collecting server AI running on those server hosted tensor cores on those GP100 GPU processors inference that maybe the AI should send those metrics over to the sleep aids related folks and assoicated medical sleep apnea MD clinics and such. And Wam Bam your IOT connected fridge’s LCD display lights up with related ad content as you reach for the half and half.
And of watch out if you start a small laundry load at an odd time of the day on your IOT connected washing machine right after visiting your IOT connected toilet because at the next IOT connected Smart TV viewing party with family and friends damned if the TV while being brought out of its always on connected sleep state begins displaying ads for adult diapers. Oh those AIs are not very tactful when it comes to things like that, what with current technology not really up to the adult level of cognisance or even a newborn’s level either.
But Logitech wants this done via its metrics collecting connected cloud services servers hosted by Amazon/Others with said AI processors as part of the package offered to Logitech/others. Hell Google even has its own tensor cores doing the same sorts of things from its IOT related hardware.

Hey wider Epyc availability
Hey wider Epyc availability and Radeon Open Compute(ROCm) 1.7 with TensorFlow support(1). And that Gigabyte MZ31-AR0 Epyc SP3 single socket motherboard(2) needs some reviewing. Any chance PCPer can get a review sample of that Gigabyte MB and some Epyc 16 and 24 core Epyc single socket “P” Epyc CPU variants to benchmark for Blender/other Workstation workloads?
