SAPPHIRE has just launched a pair of custom cooled, factory overclocked, RX Vega-based graphics cards. As you might guess: the SAPPHIRE NITRO+ Radeon RX Vega 64 uses the Vega 64 chip with its 4096 stream processors, while the SAPPHIRE NITRO+ Radeon RX Vega 56 uses the Vega 56 chip and its 3584 stream processors. Both cards have 8GB of HBM2 memory (two stacks of 4GB). The cooler design uses three fans and vapor chambers, with separate heat pipes for the GPU+Memory (six pipes) and VRMs (two pipes).
It also has a back plate!
The clock rate is where it gets interesting. The NITRO+ RX Vega 64 will have a boost clock of 1611 MHz out-of-the-box. This is above the RX Vega 64 Air’s boost clock (1546 MHz) but below the RX Vega 64 Liquid’s boost clock (1677 MHz). The liquid-cooled Radeon RX Vega 64 still has the highest clocks, but this product sits almost exactly half-way between it (the liquid-cooled RX Vega 64) and the air-cooled RX Vega 64.
The NITRO+ Radeon RX Vega 56, with its 1572 MHz boost clock, is well above the stock RX Vega 56’s 1471 MHz boost clock, though. It’s a clear win.
As for enthusiast features, this card has quite a few ways to keep it cool. First, it will operate fanless until 56C. Second, the card accepts a 4-pin fan connector, which allows it to adjust the speed of two case fans based on the temperature readings from the card. I am a bit curious whether it’s better to let the GPU control the fans, or whether having them all attached to the same place allows them to work together more effectively. Either way, if you ran out of fan headers, then I’m guessing that this feature will be good for you anyway.
The SAPPHIRE NITRO+ Radeon RX Vega 64 and 56 are available now.

The miners are snapping them
The miners are snapping them up for well above MSRP, and no crappy games are being played. It’s all hash hash hash for that digital coin cash! look at all the whining going on over at r/Amd! Oh the wailing and gnashing of teeth, the stomping of feet, and the utter despair as the little gaming scrubs long awaited AIB Vega 56s/64s are all being bought at well above MSRP only to be sent deep down into the mines to hash out that blockchain and never be used for any gaming.
Oh all the little Eric Cartman fat little butterball gamers hissing like an alley cats and cursing AMD when it’s the retailers and that demand curve pricing that’s making that MSRP dream into a markup nightmare for the fat little gaming bastards.
Now they are clogging r/Amd with posts saying that they are all going green and really JHH over at Nvidia needs to raise his prices and make Nvidia’s investors even richer.
Who needs any Volta gaming GPUs when that GTX 1080Ti is still able to fling the best FPS rates out there and AMD is selling out to the miners before the gamers can see more than the bare metal on the retailers’ shelves next to the Radeon Vega tags. JHH needs to raise his prices and make even more billions for his investors.
Lisa over at AMD is once burned and twice shy about increasing that Radeon production and I do not blame her one little bit. And JHH should raise those GTX prices and make that mad cash grab also. AMD should be upping its wholesale pricing a bit higher and making some needed increases in its overall margins so AMD’s stock prices can climb higher. Just ignore all that whining as there is money to be made by AMD in selling GPUs for whatever the F__Cing reason as the money is all the same no matter the who the F__C is buying the damn things.
Won’t someone think of the billionare investors!
And Vega is finally all here
And Vega is finally all here as the partner cards have arrived/are starting to arrive. Just remember that Vega still has 64 ROPs and that has not changed. More to the point Vega was initally designed for compute/AI with just enough ROPs to compete with ->at the time<- with the GTX 1080! But for the non gaming graphics folks AMD's Vega/other GPU designs always have had more TMU/Texture resources for those that need quality graphics image generation capability in NON FPS related graphics workloads and Vega's relatively heavy shader resources are great for accelerating Ray Tracing calculations on the GPU. Nvidia still has more ROPs available in Nvidia's many Base GPU designs(GP100, GP102, GP104/106/108) so that FPS metric is not going to improve much for AMD VS Nvidia, or Nvidia Volta VS Older Nvidia SKUs with the same amount of ROPs(96, 88, whatever). It's nice for the non gaming graphics Folks that Volta(GV100 based desktop SKU) has such nice TMU counts/texture resources and high shader counts for Ray Tracing caclulations accelerated on the shader cores. And Volta has those Tensor Cores(Matrix Math Units really) so that will come in handy for filtering and effects graphics libraries, either the direct old fashon effects libraries via matrix math or even TensorFlow libraries for AI enhansed graphics effects/filtering. Titan V is nice but that for that same amount of $3000 niceness more than one Vega 10 base die design based GPU(Vega 64) can be purchased and plenty more shader cores can be had. AMD has only one powerful Vega micro-arch based base die design known as Vega 10 which is used to create the Vega 64/56 branded GPU SKUs and that Vega 10 base die's blueprint maxes out at 64 ROP's. So Vega 10(Desktop/Professional Base die design) has no extra ROPs to give to gaming and AMD only has that one Vega 10 Discrete GPU blueprint to work with currently for discrete GPUs. And Nvidia appears to be in no hurry to get its ROP counts higher yet from any of its many Volta base GPU die designs/blueprints that are here/will be incoming at some time when Nvidia is ready. But AMD says Happy BlockChain to all and to all a good margin because AMD needs its margins above 40+% to get those PE ratios higher. Those Vega 10 base die variants are all selling out! So Santa Coin has been good to AMD lately with no chances of Santa Coin leaving any coal in AMD's stocking this XMAS also!
Controlling case fans from
Controlling case fans from the video card is brilliant! Very nice feature SAPPHIRE!
yeah case fan controlled by
yeah case fan controlled by gpu is a great idea, since it’s the primary source of heat, it can regulate the airflow, some caase fans are more noisy than cpu or gpu fans.
