Seasonic have come up with a new cable management system which could replace the modular cabling that is the current choice for those who despise case clutter.
As you can see above, with a compatible PSU you are able to connect directly to the Seasonic Backplane, aka the SCMD, with all of your power plugs distributed on the side of the device. Simply connect the cabling you require, and leave out any you do not need. It is thin enough to fit behind your motherboard, thus hiding almost all of your wiring and also ensuring you do not have to stretch that additional motherboard power cable.
Seasonic claims that introducing the SCMD into your power loop will only drop efficiency by 1% overall, making it a perfect alternative to modular cabling. As with all things Computex this year, it does indeed sport an RGB logo, if you prefer to install it where it can contribute to the rave party in your case. We do not yet have a price or a date on which it becomes available, but Seasonic suggests it will come in three sizes to ensure a proper fit in almost any system.
that actually really cool
that actually really cool
This looks very nice for
This looks very nice for sure. Might be actually something I would pick up and want to use
OH plz plz plz let this
OH plz plz plz let this become a lasting trend so that mini-itx and micro-ATX systems can have less cables from the get-go !!!
And more room for actual cooling!
I too hope something similar
I too hope something similar as this comes for smaller form factors one day.
That said, i understand why one of the first of such products is aimed at the (E)ATX form factor. A large enclosure provides ample opportunity to fill it with many components, with many of those components requiring their own power connections. This is where such a power bar can provide the biggest benefit/value to the user. Still, hope is here i will see mATX/mITX power bars one day. (with or without ridiculous RGB lighting. RGB is the new beige…)
Very nice! What took so
Very nice! What took so long?! lol
I look forward to building with this….
I think we need to go a step
I think we need to go a step further and have the cables built into the case. Make the motherboard mount a power back plane and just socket your power supply in the back.
Awesome idea, I’d buy that in
Awesome idea, I’d buy that in a heartbeat. The only issue insee is you HAVE to buy a seasonic PSU because obviously they have patents on this idea and nobody else can make something like it.
I’d also like it without the RGB lights. I’d end up just leaving them off. Problem there is that means it’s designed for the front or display side of the case not the right side which is where I’d like to hide it.
Still… awesome enough to buy. Having access to power on a rail like that would be fantastic. Although most cases these days give you that space where the PSU goes to hide wires so it’s not 100% necessary but it would make some things easier
but… Seasonic are one of
but… Seasonic are one of the most reliable and well builts PSUs on the market so what is the issue?
From the look it is not a
From the look it is not a stand alone device but a full package. The PSU has only one set of cables. But something liek that for modular PSU’s woudl be incredible. This along with EVGA’s GPU connectors. coudl potentially get rid of most cables.. that woudl be awesome…
Imagine if a case had ports
Imagine if a case had ports like these, It would make cable management heaven. The only downside would be the different motherboards I would suppose.
If this can power a i9 7980Xe
If this can power a i9 7980Xe with duel 8 pin power I’m sold.
This is a fantastic idea.
This is a fantastic idea. Can’t wait until it’s fleshed out a bit more and maybe integrated into cases.
