Thanks for answering my
Thanks for answering my question, it reminded me of the old days when I would ask you stuff on twich, good times.
But now I have a follow up question. So since the backplate is probably just for look nice-ism, I am wondering if I actually prefer the look of an exposed PCB. I’m old-school, and I love that shit. I was talking with the wife about how I cant decide to leave it on or not, and she said, “Well what is going to happen if you take it off and kill the card and then we cant game anymore?”
So my follow up question is, “Since I have a awesome case with awesome air flow (that was actually a gift from you guys from a vlan, SilverStone-Primera-Series-PM01-ATX) can I safely remove said backplate? If it helps is an gigabyte aorus 580 8gb.” to be honest I’m not sure if I wana take it off or not, I just wana know if it’s risky at all to do so.
I think they’re generally
I think they’re generally removable, but I’ve heard that some are integral to the mounting of the cooler on the opposite side. And from personal experience, I like to keep screwdrivers away from graphics cards. Turns out they’re the perfect size to scratch off surface mounted devices when they slip… *shutters*
Request: Will you please call
Request: Will you please call in all your favors to make 10GBE happen at an affordable price? Even if I buy the “reasonable” $100 ASUS card, a switch with more than two 10GBE ports is prohibitively expensive. In all seriousness, have you heard rumblings of things getting better?
Do current desktop
Do current desktop motherboards/chipsets support DisplayPort over USB-C? It seems to be needed in the new VirtualLink spec, but I have never seen it mentioned on desktop motherboard reviews (only laptops).
