A Detailed Look
The EVGA SuperNOVA 1000W G1+ power supply enclosure is painted satin black with a hammer-tone finish and measures 180mm (7.1”) long. The back panel includes an On-Off switch, AC receptacle, and a large honey-comb grill area for good exhaust airflow.
The power supply uses a high-quality 135mm Protechnic Electric fan (MGA13512XF-A25) that incorporates a fluid dynamic bearing for quiet operation and long, reliable life. The fan is rated for 0.38A at 12 VDC. The fan runs all the time; there is no low power fan-less mode.
The front panel includes sixteen connectors for the modular cables, all nicely labeled and keyed so you don’t inadvertently plug a cable into the wrong connector.
The SuperNOVA 1000W G1+ power supply comes with a very good assortment of fifteen fully modular cables for easy installation and clean builds. The cables are all sleeved with black plastic braiding.
Under the Hood
Here are a few pictures showing the layout and components inside the SuperNOVA 1000W G1+ power supply. It appears as though EVGA is once again using FSP as the OEM for the G1+ Series. And just as EVGA claimed, the internal layout is clean with room for good airflow.
The G1+ uses a high-performance LLC resonant design with synchronous rectification power conversion along with DC-to-DC voltage regulators to provide very tight voltage regulation and good efficiency.
All of the Japanese made capacitors are rated for 105°C operation. For example, the two primary bulk capacitors are made by Rubycon and rated for 270uF, 450V, and 105°C.
