Dell Launches New XPS 13 2-in-1: Thinner and Faster
Features 10th Gen Intel CPUs and Larger Display
Dell’s 13-inch XPS 2-in-1 has been completely redesigned with a chassis that is 8% thinner than the previous generation and now offers active cooling to accommodate higher-performance CPUs. The slim new form-factor also brings a larger screen, as Dell has moved from a 16:9 to a 16:10 aspect ratio which provides a 7% increase in screen real estate from its 13.4-inch InfinityEdge display.
Display resolution also gets a boost as the taller aspect takes the screen from 1920×1080 to the new standard 1920×1200 res, and this panel offers 100% sRGB coverage and up to 500 nits brightness. There will also be the option to move up to 3840×2400 panel with 100% sRGB and 90% PCI-P3 coverage, as well as HDR400 certification.
Dell is also adding Eyesafe Display technology to “reduce potentially harmful blue light emissions while maintaining color gamut performance”.

Performance compared to the previous generation is much higher – up to 2.5x faster according to Dell – and this is the first Dell laptop with Intel’s new 10th Gen Core (Ice Lake) mobile processors with Gen11 graphics. The move away from Intel’s Y-series was made possible with the switch to active cooling in this new chassis, and processor options up to a quad-core Intel Core i7-1065 G7 will be available.
The XPS 13 2-in-1 is Dell’s first laptop with Intel’s 10th Gen Intel Core processors and features adaptive performance based on the latest Intel Dynamic Tuning Technology, which proactively changes the power of the CPU according to the performance of the workload. Dell has reengineered the thermal design to cool the higher performing processor while creating an overall 8% thinner 2-in-1 than the previous generation.
The new design combines expert craftsmanship and premium materials, including CNC machined aluminum with high polished diamond cut sidewalls, black carbon fiber or arctic white woven glass fiber palm rests, along with Gorilla Glass 5 for both durability and beauty. Dell has also elevated the essentials with a larger touchpad, edge-to-edge MagLev keyboard and new cleverly crafted hinge design, blending together an exceptional user experience and beautiful design, in a remarkably small size.
