Dell’s Ultra-wide, UltraSharp U4919DW IPS Display
Everything’s Fine, At 32:9
TechSpot managed to get their hands on the Dell UltraSharp U4919 which turned a few people green when it was announced. The 49″ IPS display has a resolution of 5120×1440, which is the same as a pair of 27″ 1440p displays side by side, without a bezel in the middle. You do have to accept a top 60Hz refresh rate, we can’t yet push pixels fast enough to offer high refresh rates at this resolution but the widescreen enthusiasts this is aimed at will not mind in the least. The factory calibration was good and easily improved with a Spyder or Huey since the single panel design will ensure your colours match better than between two separate monitors.
Sure it will run you over $1000, but those who use these types of displays are used to paying a premium.
Dell's UltraSharp U4919DW is a 49-inch monitor with a 5120 x 1440 resolution, giving it a 32:9 aspect ratio. This display is equivalent to two 27-inch 1440p displays side by side without a bezel in-between. So if you were planning to run with a dual-screen 1440p setup, something like the U4919DW might be a better choice.
