GIGABYTE Announces AMD X570 Motherboards for Ryzen 3000 CPUs
Eight New Motherboards From E-ATX to Mini-ITX
We’ve seen a very promising trend at Computex for prospective AMD Ryzen 3000 series buyers: motherboard vendors with full AMD X570 product stacks. GIGABYTE is no exception with eight new motherboards on the horizon for the latest AM4 platform.
At the very high end there are a pair of AORUS motherboards, the X570 AORUS XTREME and the X570 AORUS MASTER, which offer a pretty staggering array of features. All of the features and specs for these two boards are up on GIGABYTE’s site now, so let’s take a quick look at these new AMD Ryzen 3000 options.
GIGABYTE X570 AORUS XTREME
First we’ll take a look at the biggest (literally, it’s E-ATX) and baddest of the bunch: The X570 AORUS XTREME. The many, many features of this ultra deluxe motherboard include:
- Direct 16 Phases Infineon Digital VRM Solution with 70A PowIRstage
- Thermal Reactive Armor Design with Fins-Array Heatsink, Direct Touch Heatpipe and NanoCarbon Baseplate
- Triple Ultra-Fast NVMe PCIe 4.0/3.0 x4 M.2 with Triple Thermal Guards
- Onboard Intel WiFi 6 802.11ax 2T2R & BT 5 with 2X AORUS Antenna
- AQUANTIA 10GbE BASE-T LAN + Intel Gigabit LAN with cFosSpeed
- Rear 130dB SNR AMP-UP Audio with ALC1220-VB & ESS SABRE 9218 DAC with WIMA Audio Capacitors
- RGB FUSION with Multi-Zone Addressable LED Light Show Design, Support Addressable LED & RGB LED Strips
That’s just part of an extensive list, and the full specs are rather daunting. Among the highlights has to be the massive 16-phase CPU power delivery on this 8-layer 2X copper PCB. And by massive I mean that each phase can provide up to 70A via Infineon TDA21472 MOSFETs – no doublers, not in parallel – just 16 direct phases powered by a new generation Infineon multiphase PWM controller.
Expansion includes three armored PCIe x16 slots and three PCIe 4.0/3.0 x4 M.2 connectors. And networking? How about Intel WiFi 6 AX 2T2R & BT 5, AQUANTIA 10GbE, and Intel GbE LAN. Audio features an ESS 9218 SABRE DAC and audiophile-grade capacitors. There is also GIGABYTE’s Thermal Reactive Armor to keep things cool, and convenient features such as the ability to update the BIOS without installing a CPU, RAM, or GPU.
The list goes on, but we should get to the next motherboard.
GIGABYTE X570 AORUS MASTER
This is the high-end ATX form-factor motherboard (the X570 AORUS XTREME is E-ATX), and its features list is still quite impressive – if not as extreme (er, XTREME) as the flagship board.
Features include:
- Direct 14 Phases Infineon Digital VRM Solution with PowIRstage
- Advanced Thermal Design with Fins-Array Heatsink and Direct Touch Heatpipe
- Triple Ultra-Fast NVMe PCIe 4.0/3.0 x4 M.2 with Triple Thermal Guards
- Intel WiFi 6 802.11ax 2T2R & BT 5
- Rear 125dB SNR AMP-UP Audio with ALC1220-VB & ESS SABRE 9118 DAC with WIMA Audio Capacitors
- Realtek 2.5GbE + Intel Gigabit LAN with cFosSpeed
- USB TurboCharger for Mobile Device Fast Charge Support
- RGB FUSION 2.0 with Multi-Zone Addressable LED Light Show Design, Supports Addressable LED & RGB LED Strips
Compared to the AORUS XTREME the VRM solution is a little less powerful but still overkill for most applications with its 12 + 2 direct 50A phases. Networking starts with the same Intel WiFi 6 802.11ax 2T2R and BT 5 wireless solution as the XTREME, though X570 AORUS MASTER does not share the XTREME’s AQUANTIA 10GbE (it does offer both a Realtek 2.5GbE and Intel Gigabit LAN onboard, however).
Six More GIGABYTE X570 AORUS Motherboards Incoming
Of course the X570 AORUS XTREME and AORUS MASTER were not the only motherboards on display at Computex, and the full list of upcoming motherboards also includes:
- X570 AORUS ELITE
- X570 AORUS ULTRA
- X570 AORUS PRO WIFI
- X570 I AORUS PRO WIFI (Mini-ITX)
- X570 AORUS PRO
- X570 GAMING X
I will be paying particular attention to the mini-ITX X570 I AORUS PRO WIFI for some small form-factor Ryzen 3000 goodness, and the GAMING X board should provide an interesting ATX option at a lower price point. For anyone curious the full specs are already up on GIGABYTE’s site (linked above) for these six additional X570 boards (no images yet).
As with most early product announcements we will have to wait for pricing and release dates for these new motherboards.
