The ThinkReality A6 Is the First Device in Lenovo’s New ThinkReality AR PlatformToday at its annual Accelerate conference in Orlando, Lenovo unveiled a new sub-brand dedicated to providing augmented reality solutions to business and enterprise customers, as well as a new lightweight AR headset to go with it.
Lenovo's new ThinkReality brand is a device and cloud agnostic AR platform for businesses. As Lenovo describes it, ThinkReality is "designed to help enterprise workers use AR applications to receive assistance, reduce repair times, eliminate errors, streamline complex workflows, improve training quality, collaborate, and save money."
The ThinkReality platform enables users to pin, interact and collaborate with 3D digital information in the real world, improving their contextual awareness and efficiency. The platform is device and cloud agnostic, making it easy for enterprise customers to adopt and manage AR and VR software applications across multiple operating systems, cloud services, and devices.
The first device in the ThinkReality portfolio, the ThinkReality A6 is a lightweight, head-mounted AR device targeted at business and enterprise customers. It weighs in at 380g (0.83lbs) and offers a 40-degree diagonal field of view with 1080p resolution per eye. It’s powered by a Snapdragon 845 SoC and Intel Movidius chipset for vision processing, with Lumus Waveguide optics.
The ThinkReality A6 software is based on Android Oreo and it supports voice, gesture, and gaze control with a 3 Degrees of Freedom hand controller. The device’s removable 6800mAh battery is advertised to offer up to 4 hours of running time.
Intended for business use, Lenovo suggests applications such as manufacturing and industrial operations, employee training, healthcare interactions, architectural and engineering design, and remote collaboration.
