MSI’s GT76 Titan Laptop Packs an Overclocked Desktop CPU
Available with up to an Intel Core i9-9900K
MSI’s GT76 Titan isn’t trying to be the thinnest or lightest on the market, instead opting for a large 17.3-inch display and a chassis designed for powerful cooling. And for a laptop in the ultra-powerful Titan series that MSI calls “the most extreme Titan ever created”, there is obviously something pretty special going on inside. Namely, a desktop CPU which can be configured up to an 8-core Intel Core i9-9900K, overclocked up to 5.0 GHz per core.
To keep the CPU cool under overclocked loads MSI has implemented redesigned cooling which the company says offers 2.25x better airflow than before. It is an 11-heatpipe, 4-fan cooling system featuring a CNC polished copper CPU block and large ADC10 aluminum plates to reinforce the cooling module.
In addition to the desktop processor the GT76 Titan is equipped with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 2080 (mobile) GPU, supports up to 128GB of DDR4-2666 memory between its four SoDIMM slots, and storage options include a pair of PCIe Gen3 x4 M.2 slots (one is a PCIe/SATA combo) and a 2.5-inch SATA drive bay.
But we can’t forget about the display, and at 17.3 inches it’s hard to miss.
Display options include a 3840×2160 resolution IPS-level panel and a 144Hz 1920×1080 IPS-level option. Naturally as this is 2019 the screen won’t be the only thing outputting colorful light as MSI has implemented their Mystic Light RGB lighting throughout, with a per-key RGB backlit keyboard and illumination that extends to a chassis underglow lighting effect.
