Grab the Christopher Lloyd Adventure Game ‘Toonstruck’ Free at GOG

An underappreciated 1996 adventure game with a great cast
The folks over at GOG are wrapping up their big summer sale by giving yet another game away for free. This time it’s Toonstruck, a 1996 adventure game developed by Burst Studios and released by Virgin Interactive. The well-reviewed game blends classic hand-drawn characters and scenes with 90s era live action FMV, and stars Christopher Lloyd as protagonist Drew Blanc. Tim Curry, Dan Castellaneta, Dom DeLuise, and Ben Stein all also have voice or motion captured roles.
You are Drew Blanc, animator of The Fluffy Fluffy Bun Bun Show. Life hasn't exactly turned out the way you planned. Your boss, Mr. Schmalz, has it in for you. Your creativity has left town. And just when you think it can't get worse... it does. A freak accident involving electronics (don't ask) spins you headfirst into the WHACKED OUT and not-so-warm-and-fuzzy world of your own cartoon creations.
To get home, you'll need to unravel the secrets of these loony lands before they unravel you. Out smart demented clowns, out shock cross-dressing livestock, and outwit the diabolical Count Nefarious! Send someone an exploding turkey. Watch Spike the Clown torture balloon animals. And, if you've got any energy left, try preventing an all-out war between the cartoon forces of good and evil.
How to Get Toonstruck Free
Some previous GOG giveaways have been a bit complex, but this one is pretty easy. Just head over to the GOG homepage, log into your GOG account, and then scroll down until you see the Toonstruck banner. Click the Get it FREE button and you’ll see a “Success” message. The game will automatically appear in your GOG library within a minute or so.
Be sure to act fast, however. The giveaway ends Sunday, June 16th at 10:00 a.m. EDT (2:00 p.m. UTC), and the entire GOG Summer Sale wraps up eight hours later (6:00 p.m. EDT / 10:00 p.m. UTC). Although originally released for DOS, Toonstruck has received the standard GOG treatment, meaning that the game runs easily on modern versions of Windows, Linux, and macOS. It’s normally priced at $9.99.
A ‘Breathtaking’ Deal?
While you’re over at GOG picking up Toonstruck, you may also want to check out the Summer Sale’s Simply: RED collection, a limited-time bundle that gives you all of CD Projekt Red‘s games — including a pre-order for the full version of next year’s Cyberpunk 2077 — for $87.77. Assuming that Cyberpunk will be a $60 game at launch, that means you get the following additional games for about $28 (plus the value of the interest-free loan to GOG, of course):
- The Witcher: Enhanced Edition
- The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings – Enhanced Edition
- The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Game of the Year Edition
- The Witcher Adventure Game
- Thornebreaker: The Witcher Tales
Big fans of CD Projekt Red or The Witcher series will likely already own most if not all of the additional games, but it’s a great bundle for those new to the studio’s work and who are excited about Cyberpunk.
