Who Needs Diablo 4 When You Can Play The Original In A Browser

Click ‘Til Your Fingers Bleed
Today in news you probably never expected to hear is an announcement that the original Diablo has been reverse engineered and can now be played in a modern browser! Just head over to https://diablo.rivsoft.net, wait for the page to load and click on Play Shareware, a quick 50MB download and you will get the first two dungeon areas, one of the three playable classes and a few of your old friends to talk to.
If you own the game on GoG or Steam, find the diabdat.mpq file and drag it into the browser screen and you will be able to play the full game in all it’s ancient glory. Hexus did mention the site is under a bit of a heavy load at the moment, but they were able to play in both Chrome and Firefox!
Interestingly, Rivsoft says that the web game is "based on source code reconstructed by GalaXyHaXz and devilution team". This code is pretty faithful to the original, even preserving the "bugs and badly written code in the original game". Modern Vintage Gamer looks at this feat of reverse engineering in a video, if you are interested.
