Ryzen 9 3900X Is RAM Tough!
Get What You DDRamn Well Paid For
We’ve said it before and we will say it again, the Ryzen architecture will reward you if you match it with some fast, tight DDR4. Many memory reviews show tiny increases in performance if you pay the extra money for high frequency RAM; something that has not held true in reviews of AMD’s new architecture in the past and certainly doesn’t with the newest chips. TechSpot saw noticeable performance improvements in their recent review where they compared the performance of XMP and manually set profiles on DDR4-3000 through DDR4-3800 DIMMs.
If your 2080 Ti just isn’t giving you the performance you want, you should check out what happens with a good Ryzen 9 3900X chip paired with DDR-3800.
When we reviewed Ryzen's latest iteration we briefly checked out different DDR4 memory speeds but now that things have settled we were put on a mission to benchmark memory performance on 3rd-gen Ryzen to see if spending more makes sense or not.
