Time To Update Those NVIDIA Drivers And Secure Your System
Nice Driver You Got There, Shame If Someone Used It To Infect You
If you are running NVIDIA drivers older than version 431.60, released July 23rd you should update as soon as possible as the previous drivers are currently Exploit Ready. NVIDIA released an urgent notification that older drivers suffer from five vulnerabilities, ranging from denial of service through to privilege escalation and remote code execution.
The vulnerabilities include Tesla, Quadro and NVS cards, not just your gaming card and unfortunately the updates for some models are not yet available, R400 and R418 cards will not get an update until later this month. Your gaming cards should be upgraded to 431.60, which you would need in order to install a SUPER edition card and which also expands G-SYNC compatibility; not to mention plugging the security holes.
If you are running the Studio version of the driver then check out 431.70 here.
If you’re running a GeForce card on drivers older than version 431.60, the set Nvidia released on July 23rd, you should update. You can download new drivers from Nvidia’s site or through the GeForce Experience updater thing.
