Windows Update Déjà Vu, Though They Claim It Is Brand New

Remember When Not Every Update Was A Secret?

Rejoice Windows 10 users, for we will be seeing a return of sanity to Windows Update thanks to a ‘brand new’ feature coming soon to Windows 10.  No longer will the contents of updates be obfuscated but will instead be broken out into security updates, driver and feature updates, as well as monthly non-security quality updates.  There will even be a brand new page under Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > View optional updates so your security updates will not be hidden amongst them.

Consider this return to the old normal a great victory for yourself and for all those whom have registered complaints, such as The Inquirer.

Oh, my days, Microsoft. Thank f*** for that. We'd love to say "it was INQ wot won it" but the truth is the vast majority of our colleagues in the media and the user base of Windows have been saying with one voice that the way Windows Update was being managed was shockingly bad, and we can only hope this is the first step on the road to recovery

5 times now, 𝐅𝐈𝐕𝐄 𝐅𝐔𝐂𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄𝐒, since win 10 has come out, 𝐅𝐈𝐕𝐄 𝐅𝐔𝐂𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄𝐒 an update has bricked my system. Five times I’ve gotten to the “Auto Repair” screen, five times I’ve seen “We are not able to fix this problem” with the fuckin QR box page, 𝐅𝐈𝐕𝐄 𝐅𝐔𝐂𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄𝐒 I’ve had to re-install clean…… and you dont notice it when upgrading but win 10 fresh instals keep changing, like little things, “Game Bar” went from black to blue, start menu changes, slight changes in the task manager gui, tiny things that just make no sense but keep fucking changing.

I’m not sure if it’s my not exactly mainstream hardware mix, or something else my fault or theirs, but It just keeps happening, i’m just waiting for it to happen again. WILL GOING BACK TO NORMAL WINDOWS UPDATE HELP? I have no idea, but I fucking hope so, because this is getting lame.

You can install the bare minimum at least, which should reduce the chances of killing it a bit? Better back everything up though because 19H2 build 18363.38 is coming soon.

Honestly Molestedbyasus, it’s not so bad for me. I’m….. well I’m one of us. I have my OS on a 64gb partition of a 128g ssd with all drivers on the other partition, all my d/l’s are on a 480g ssd and all my steam/uplay shit is on a 940g ssd and everthing else is on an old but still working 520g ssd, so betwine usb 3 thumbdrives and ssd’s and a 50g internet conection I can be up and running from a brick in less than an hour, gaming 30 mins later, BUT FOR THE NORMAL, the average “I put so much money into this thing WHY WONT IT WORK” person I cant even concider the frustration they must be going through with this bullishit.

Oh, and before anyone says “That;s your problem right there Collie…..” The first 3 bricks I DID NOT have my c: partitioned for drivers, I only started doing that after the 3rd time, so that’s not the problem (but it is a great workaround)
