The GeForce 440.97 Game Ready drivers have pushed the product up to the Release 440 branch. These jumps often correspond to new features being added to the drivers, versus bugfix and Game Ready improvements along a single branch.
In this case, the major feature is windowed G-SYNC for OpenGL and Vulkan applications. My initial reaction, likely because I still do not have a G-SYNC monitor, was to somewhat gloss over the news. My second opinion was more positive, however – there’s probably a group of people who run into this issue, and it should get more important over time as more software adopts Vulkan.
The driver also has Game Ready improvements for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) and The Outer Worlds.
Several other bugs were fixed, including flickering on G-SYNC laptops, crashes and flickers on various games, and GPU boost issues on GeForce GTX 970M laptops.
GeForce 440.97 Game Ready drivers can be downloaded from GeForce Experience or the NVIDIA website.
