The Ryzen 9 3950X Marks The Spot
The Top Spot For Price To Performance That Is
It has arrived and the wait was worth it. The R9 3950X offers the best of Ryzen and Threadripper both in a very attractively priced HEDT processor. There is no guarantee it can beat Intel’s heavy hitters like the Core i9-9980XE or i9-9900KS in every application you use, but there is a good chance it will at least equal them and for a lower price.
Kitguru put AMD’s new chip up against a long list of CPUs in synthetic benchmarks, productivity software and gaming in their review. It often tops the charts in the latter two categories, however in gaming tests it can’t beat the Coffee Lake based Core i9-9900K. On the other hand it crushes that 9900K in productivity.
If you are first and last a gamer, this chip might not be your best choice, if you have a variety of workloads and game as well it is certainly worth a look but if you are looking for an affordable personal workstation this chip is one of your best bets.
The wait is over for AMD’s eagerly anticipated 16-core Ryzen 9 3950X processor. Slotting into the AM4 socket, the Ryzen 9 3950X represents a change in the level of performance now available to users on a mainstream platform.
