AMD has announced something of interest to anyone who has been hoping for more Ryzen mini PC options, as they reveal the “open ecosystem for OEMs to create and customize high performance Mini PCs, powered by AMD Ryzen Embedded V1000 and R1000 processors”. One such option is the ASRock 4X4 BOX-R1000V pictured above, but several models/configurations have been made available from four featured manufacturers so far.

So what exactly encompasses the Ryzen Embedded V1000 and R1000 series of processors? Here’s a quick look:

AMD Ryzen Embedded Processors
Model Cores / Threads Base / Boost GPU GPU Shaders GPU Burst Frequency Memory 14nm TDP
Ryzen Embedded V1807B 4C/8T 3.35 Ghz / 3.8 GHz Vega 11 704 1.3 GHz DDR4-3200 14nm 35-54W
Ryzen Embedded V1756B 4C/8T 3.25 Ghz / 3.6 GHz Vega 8 512 1.3 GHz DDR4-3200 14nm 35-54W
Ryzen Embedded V1605B 4C/8T 2.0 Ghz / 3.6 GHz Vega 8 512 1.1 GHz DDR4-2400 14nm 12-25W
Ryzen Embedded V1202B 2C/4T 2.3 Ghz / 3.2 GHz Vega 3 192 1.0 GHz DDR4-2400 14nm 12-25W
Ryzen Embedded R1606G 2C/4T 2.6 Ghz / 3.5 GHz Vega 3 192 1.2 GHz DDR4-2400 14nm 12-25W
Ryzen Embedded R1505G 2C/4T 2.4 Ghz / 3.3 GHz Vega 3 192 1.0 GHz DDR4-2400 14nm 12-25W

AMD lists ASRock Industrial, EEPD, OnLogic, and Simply NUC as the first OEMs to offer these new mini PCs, with the following models currently listed:

None of the above models appear to be currently shipping (pre-order links on the product pages), and these designs are targeting the industrial sector in most cases. Still, inroads towards more AMD mini-PCs has been made, though I’m sure most end users considering a small form-factor APU would like to see Zen 2 and Navi, and not first-gen Zen CPU cores and Vega graphics.

Throw in a couple of Intel NiCs and they would make very nice PFSence boxes.
