Games Done Quick set another record with their latest Awesome Games Done Quick speedrun event for charity, AGDQ 2020. The number for all other events to beat is now $3.13 million USD (plus any late donations that they wish to count). The previous record was the most recent Summer Games Done Quick, SGDQ 2019, which brought in just under $3.04 million USD.

The donations from AGDQ 2020 benefit the Prevent Cancer Foundation.

I’m curious how long Games Done Quick can continue creeping past itself. A few events have dipped here and there, but it continues to trend upward. Will they plateau before 4 million in an event?

Most of the VODs have not made it to their YouTube yet, but there were quite a few good runs this time. If you are a fan of Super Metroid runs, then the final run, Super Metroid Impossible Any%, is a good change-up from the typical Super Metroid formula. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past randomizer and “crowd control” (as in the crowd can donate Twitch bits to influence the game) was also very interesting. I unfortunately missed the Untitled Goose Game run, but I caught the Clone Hero (Guitar Hero) runs. Sure, the songs were technically not done quick… just well.

Did you see a run that we should check out the VOD for? Let us know in the comments.

The next Games Done Quick will be Summer Games Done Quick 2020 on June 21st through June 28th. Awesome Games Done Quick 2021 will follow that on January 3rd through January 10th.

If you just want speedruns and charity, even if Games Done Quick is not involved, then you can also check out the European Speedrunner Assembly Winter 2020 from February 16th through February 22nd.
