A recent study revealed that in 97% company networks checked, there was unidentified active scanning taking place which suggests that there is something in the system hunting down vulnerable machines. In 81% there is no doubt something malicious is roaming around as they could identify traffic associated with known miners, adware, or spyware; in over 40% multiple types of the aforementioned have taken up residence in these corporate networks.
It will come as no surprise to anyone who has worked at a large company of 1000 employees or more that 94% of the companies investigate did not adhere to their own security policies but did you know that 81% were transmitting sensitive data in clear text? According to a 13-page study from IT security vendor Positive Technologies, a whopping 97% of surveyed companies with at least 1,000 employees show evidence of suspicious activity in their network traffic and that 81% of the companies were being subject to malicious activity.
