Pump Up The Volume

A good built in headset mic is almost impossible to find and if that is what you are currently using for streaming or just chatting online then heed KitGuru’s advice and upgrade your audio before thinking about a new camera.  They had their ears on a new USB mic from Genesis, the Radium 600, along with the variety of accessories it ships with.  The Radium 600 is a condenser microphone with a cCardioid pickup pattern, offering a response rate between 30 – 18,000 Hz in case your voice actually has that kind of range.

The controls for mute, gain, and headphones as well as the USB jack are located on the microphone it’s self so you don’t have to worry about rummaging around your desk to mute yourself while on camera.  The stand was a bit unstable so you might consider a more permanent solution, the instability is in part due to the stand being small enough to fit in the carrying case which comes with the mic.

It is currently out of stock in many places, once back in stock it should run around $100 so keep an eye out.

If you’re a content creator or live streamer looking to improve your overall quality, you may be wanting to jump into buying your next webcam or camera… but don’t! Ask yourself, ‘is my audio quality good enough?’
