Three Fans, Three Slots

MSI’s RTX 2080 Super Gaming X Trio is a girthy card, 328mm long, 56.5mm wide and a whopping 140mm in height so if you are thinking about picking one up you might want to break out the measuring tape first.  It also weighs in at just over 1.5kg (3.4lbs) so you will get to test out those reinforced PCIe slots found on most modern motherboards.  The card does ship with a bracket for extra peace of mind.  That extra poundage does help with cooling, NikkTech saw peak temperatures of 70C under load, with the fans producing 45dBA.

The factory clocks are 1650MHz base, 1845MHz boost with the base memory clock running at 1938MHz, but it was quickly and easily overclocked to 1760/1955MHz on the core and 2275MHz memory.  The card beat out other similar models at those factory clocks but once overclocked was the next best thing to an RTX 2080 Ti.  The only drawback is the hefty price, at $890 there is an argument that waiting for the 3000 series to arrive before making such a large investment.

Hindered only by its increase in price due to the global Covid-19 crisis the GeForce RTX 2080 Super Gaming X Trio by MSI delivers exactly what serious gamers and enthusiasts are looking for in a card right now, excellent performance second only to NVIDIA’s very own RTX 2080 Ti model.
