X Rated! Original XBox Kernel Revealed And More

Windows NT 3.5 Also Exposes Itself For You
The original XBox offered modders a chance to do some very interesting things, even without access to the dev kit or source code, from running directly off of the drive to setting up emulators for just about every previous game system. The platform might be a bit long in the tooth but you should expect to see a resurgence of discussions about it as it seems that the entire platform, from that dev kit straight through to the kernel builds have been leaked to the net. There are many modders who’ve long ago put the effort into gaining access to the XBox’s design but this should make it easier and quicker to get right down to hacking one to do also sorts of interesting tricks.
Along with the XBox leak is news that the source code for Windows NT 3.5, but not 3.51, has also been leaked to the net. As there are no sane individuals or entities out there still relying on that particular version of Windows this is not so much a security issue as it is a look into the history of Microsoft’s operating systems. Microsoft has done a relatively good job of keeping their source code protected, though there have been some memorable breaches including a fairly recent one involving Windows 10. If you are curious how WinNT worked or have an old XBox lying around just waiting for a project to come to mind you should take a peek and see if you are inspired.
The original Xbox was a new frontier for modders and tinkerers, as the included hard drive made it easy to install unofficial dashboards and pirated games. Those enthusiasts might be getting a flashback to 2002, as the official Xbox OS has leaked online
