Western Digital has announced their new 4TB portable SSD portfolio today, with a focus on performance as well as capacity. And just what might a fast portable SSD with 4TB capacity cost? Brace yourself: announced pricing starts at $679.99.

Giving consumers and professionals more space to create, the new drives are built to keep up with today’s high-quality content demands. The four drives now offer gamers, content creators, enthusiasts and creative professionals the performance, durability and greater capacity they need to capture, move and save their files.

The announcement includes the following SanDisk and WD branded models (quoting Western Digital’s press release):
