ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15; Ryzen Plus RTX

Add In Death Wish RAID And A 165Hz Display Too
AMD powered laptops used to be rare but that is no longer the case with the current generation of mobile Ryzen processors as a number of OEMs have released new AMD powered models. Take the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 which is powered by an eight core Ryzen 9 5900HX, paired with the mobile version of the RTX 3080, 32GB of DDR4-3200, two 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 drives in RAID 0 and 165Hz 1440p IPS display.
All that hardware is fit into a 4 x 10.2 x 1.07″ body which weighs in at a hair over 5lbs, though that light weight is in part due to a 90WHrs battery; to be fair no battery is going to run this beast full out for long. Kitguru’s testing showed just over three hours on Performance mode and around six in the low powered Silent Mode, so it is somewhat useful on the move.
There was a lot that KitGuru liked about the lapto; but for three glaring omissions, no SD card, no Thunderbolt and no webcam. On the other hand the benchmarks are very impressive, so check it out.
Packing an 8-core Ryzen 9 5900HX and RTX 3080 Laptop graphics, we know this machine is going to be fast. It’s also got a 1440p 165Hz display, 32GB of DDR4 memory and two 1TB SK Hynix NVMe SSDs running in RAID 0.
