Dear Sir/Madame, You Are Being Hunted … By Even Stranger Things
A Polite Robotic Nightmare Reinvented
If you never ran into Sir, You Are Being Hunted when it was released then you missed out on learning lessons about how to try to use a rock, paper or shotgun to attempt to defend yourself from a variety of very English murderbots. It is an occasionally hilarious survival horror game of the unforgiving roguelike variety; no replay is the same and bad luck when the world is generated means a short and unpleasant game, while good luck leads to much entertainment.
The disconnect the game offers, via very polite English robots intent on viciously murdering you if they can find you adds a very unique atmosphere to the game. Add to that an almost Lovecraftian environment with some extremely varied murderbot designs and you have a very memorable game and $20 well spent. That is enough said about the original five islands, for it is time to revisit them again for the Sir, You Are Being Hunted: Reinvented Edition.
More than just a remastered edition, this adds new visuals, UI and controls as well as an optional perk system, bigger islands, and revamped audio. It will also be different from the original, though exactly how is unclear. The cramped inventory and dearth of offensive weapons is likely to remain, and hopefully you will still be able to lead robots to their doom with an assortment of musical instruments; assuming you found some party toys for them to step on. The original is a very odd and amusing game, but not easy by any means so the Reinvented Edition is something to look forward to in 2022.
Sir, You Are Being Hunted: Reinvented Edition will be discounted by 20% if you own the original, and the announcement of its existence also came with a huge patch that adds visual improvements and brings back multiplayer to the original as well.
Which is to say that Big Robot, the studio of RPS co-founder Jim Rossignol, have announced a remaster of their 2014 sandbox survival shooter Sir, You Are Being Hunted. That'll be a whole separate game but the original isn't forgotten, receiving a big ol' patch which spruces up the look and technoguts while restoring multiplayer.
