Splish Splash A Mouse Was Taking A Bath
Testing SteelSeries Aerox 3 Wireless’ IP54 Rating
Technically an IP54 rating is splash resistant as opposed to being waterproof, so while you won’t see the Aerox 3 Wireless actually submerged in Rock, Paper, SHOTGUN’s investigation but you will see a can of Diet Coke poured on it. SteelSeries advertised both the wireless and wired versions could survive a spill on your desktop, but RPS did go a bit further in their testing.
You might not forget your mouse out in the rain very frequently, but if you have an Aerox 3 you don’t have to worry as it will function perfectly after it drains. The mouse itself is a trypophobes nightmare, as the shell has many tiny holes in it; apparently that has no effect on the water resistant properties of this rodent.
The other part of the IP54 rating means that while dirt can get into the Aerox 3 Wireless. it won’t have any negative effect on the operation of the mouse. Sounds like this mouse has the perfect beach body.
According to SteelSeries, these were the first gaming mice on the market to receive IP54 certification, effectively guaranteeing protection against dust ingress and water splashes.
