Sometimes Truth is Stranger Than Fiction

If the photos of this prototype ASUS product weren’t so convincing, I would think someone was pulling our leg about this. It seems that ASUS, which makes Z690 motherboards, in case you didn’t know, has a unique solution to the DDR5 problem: a DDR5 to DDR4 adapter board!

Let’s just hope the final version does not cause your DIMMs to tower over your system quite like the picture below:

A truly elegant solution.

Since Z690 motherboards with DDR5 support lack support for DDR4 at an electrical level, the required circuitry appears to be supplied via this card. Let’s just hope that whatever components needed for DDR4 support on a card like this are in better supply than the ones hampering DDR5 production.
