Drop The Headphone Mic, Pick Up The NZXT Capsule For ~$100

The boom mics on gaming headsets are finally getting better, but they still can’t match the quality of even an inexpensive cardioid microphone, which is why you might want to look into the new NZXT Capsule microphone.  It costs just over $100, so you don’t have to invest as much money as you would if you opted for the more popular RGB infused microphones but you can still get similar quality.

The USB-C attached cardioid Capsule offers a frequency response ranging from 20Hz to 20kHz with a maximum sound pressure level of 120dB and a sample rate that can reach 24-bit/96kHz.  It also has a headphone amp with 16 ohms of impedance, 15Hz – 22kHz response range and a 100dB SPL.   The microphone has an internal pop filter and an internal shock mount, so you won’t have to worry about picking those up.

The dials you see control your gain and the output volume to the headset plugged into the amp, with the gain dial serving double duty as a mute button.  The only RGBs are a ring around the base of the mic, blue means you are live while red means you are muted.  Drop by TechPowerUp for some more details and sample recordings from the NZXT Capsule microphone.

NZXT has a new microphone entry and it's a stylish plug-and-play microphone aimed at gamers and streamers for an affordable price.
