3D V-Cache is Here

One little item of interest during AMD’s livestream today: the first desktop processor with AMD’s 3D V-Cache technology was announced. It is the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, and it will offer a massive 100MB of combined L2/L3 cache.

AMD also announced an upgrade to the award-winning AMD Ryzen 5000 Series desktop processors, delivering the first AMD Ryzen processors with AMD 3D V-Cache technology to power incredible gaming experiences. Powered by the “Zen 3” core architecture, the Ryzen 7 5800X3D desktop processor is the world’s fastest gaming processer, delivering an average of 5% faster 1080p gaming across select titles than the competition.

AMD states that the “AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D will be available for Socket AM4 later in Spring 2022”, and it will be interesting to see the performance uplift from the new cache tech within the same 105 W envelope.
